Ashlyn:Ask Miller to reserve a table for two for me tonight.
Harmony:Don’t you dare back out now.
Soleil:It’s grand gesture time, baby!
No grand gestures,I type back. I only promised to talk to Miller. Nothing more!
Ashlyn:Throwing yourself at him naked is a grand gesture.
Moon:Just tell him you love him.
Ashlyn:And want to make babies with him.
Babies? I clasp my chest. I’m still not sure I can handle a relationship and she wants to throw babies into the mix?
Harmony:Way to scare her.
Crap. I’m running straight into fear again. I need to stop this.
I push to my feet. I got this. I’m doing this. I’m vanquishing my fears. Fears about relationships, that is. The baby stuff can wait a while. Like ten years or so.
Because I know better than Miller, I sneak out the back door ofEden’s Garden.I check the alleyway for lurkers before rushing pastBertie’s Recording Studioto the back entrance ofNaked Falls Brewing.I try the door. Phew. It’s unlocked. I enter and lock the door behind me.
I scan the restaurant but I don’t see anyone. Makes sense. They don’t open for a few hours. I make my way to the hallway where the offices are. I’m nearly at Miller’s office when Elder steps out of his.
He grins at me and holds up his phone. “Camera surveillance.”
“Is Miller in?”
“Maybe. Why do you want to know?”
I narrow my eyes at him. “You know.”
He crosses his arms over his chest but unlike when Miller makes the same move, I don’t drool over his bulging biceps. Mostly because he doesn’t have any bulging muscles.
“Are you going to hurt my brother again?”
“Elder,” Miller growls and my heart rate speeds up at the same time warmth spreads through my body. He’s still here. He’s not running away from me.
Elder bats his eyelashes. “What? I’m your twin. I’m only protecting you.”
Miller crosses his arms over his chest and now I do stare at those bulging muscles. Muscles I know are strong enough to hold me against a wall while Miller kisses me senseless before he… I cut those thoughts off when I feel warmth flow to my core.
“You’re interfering,” Miller grumbles.
“I saw her first.”
Miller holds out his hand. “Come on.”
I stare at his hand. “You’re not going to make me grovel first?”
“Do you want to get down on your knees?” He wiggles his eyebrows.
Elder slams his hands over his ears. “I do not want to hear this shit.”
“Then leave,” Miller tells him.
Elder sticks his nose in the air and sniffs. “Fine. I will. See if I help you when you need it again.” He stomps off.
