The impact knocked me out.

“Aeon!”I jerked awake, feeling my right side of my body echo in pain.

I groaned, feeling a weight on my left side, with hair on my face.

What happened?

“Katarina?” Lucien sounded a little closer.

It took me several tries to open my eyes, before I finally managed to keep them open. Looking down, I saw Katarina tucked into my side. Her face had small cuts on it, bruising around her eyes with dried blood coming down her nose.

“Are you ok?” Lucien asked me, taking my attention from her.

“What happened?” I tried to move her over, but she whimpered.

Lucien picked her up.

“I don’t know, I woke up next to you guys, with all this glass around us.” His body had small cuts on his shoulders and arms.

Trying to get up, I looked up, noticing the window was broken, when all the events came rushing back to me. Disbelief coursed through me, still in shock that she had touched me and pulled my consciousness forward.

“We fell from the library,” I said, fighting through the pain to stand up. I don’t know how many bones I had broken as we landed, and I did not know how bad her injuries were.

Lucien looked up, his boyish features even more prominent with the look of worry on his face.

“We did this to her? Why was she out of her room?” He looked down at her like he was about to panic.

“Let’s get her to Mr. Potter,” I said, taking a step, and my entire body protested. Breathing through my nose, I pushed through the pain. We rounded a corner heading to the front entrance when I had to lean against the wall for support. My body was sweating, every breath felt like fire, and I was seeing double.

“Aeon,” Lucien pressed his body against mine.

“I’m fine,” I said, through gritted teeth.

Pushing myself off the wall. I walked a little further to get through the door.

“Mr. Potter,” I shouted, barely making it to the dining room before my vision swam again.

“We should take her to a bigger bedroom, so he and I can work on her,” Lucien said, walking off with her. “I’ll come back for you.”

My wolf didn’t like that he was walking away with her, especially after what happened last night. I had to fight the urge to follow them to make sure she would be ok with him, that he didn’t hurt her, even though I knew he wouldn’t do anything to her.

I still couldn’t believe I had gained consciousness within my wolf. How did it happen? Was it because she had touched me? So many questions entered my mind, trying to make sense of what made me conscious.

“Aeon?”

I looked up to see a worried-looking Lucien, who now had pants on. As much as I wanted to comfort him, I was getting exhausted.

“Are you alright?” Mr. Potter rushed up to us.

“We are—”

“Ms. Katarina is missing from her room,” he blurted out.

“She was with us. Apparently, we fell out of the window on the third floor,” Lucien caught Mr. Potter up on all the details as he helped me to the room he had left her. She was on the same floor, but in a room closer to the stairs.

It was double the size of the room she had now, with a bigger bed. It was a room closer to the luxury we each had. Seeing her in the middle of the bed with blood on her face made me feel uneasy.
