“What can we do?” Logan asked.
“Can you find out anything more about this woman who came to talk to you? Amber brought her to you. Are they friends? Colleagues?” Sean asked.
“She didn’t say, but I got the impression they weren’t friends, or at least they were new acquaintances,” Logan said.
“Anything we can know about her will give me a clearer picture of what we are dealing with,” Sean said.
“Does it help that I’ve known her since we were kids?” I asked.
“What?” Eric asked.
“Why didn’t you say something earlier?” Logan asked.
“I’m saying it now,” I said.
“What do you know about her? What can you tell us about her?” Sean asked.
“Besides the fact that he’s in love with her?” Logan asked.
I shot him a look, and Logan just shrugged. “Dude, now how you were and what happened last night make so much more sense.”
“What happened?” Sean asked with a smirk.
“Nothing,” I said quickly.
“He crashed and burned,” Eric said.
“Thanks for your support,” I muttered.
“He was a bit tongue-tied at seeing her again. I take it you had a crush on her when you were in what? Grade school? Did you see her when you were ten and immediately fall in love with her?” Logan asked.
“Thirteen,” I said, and Logan laughed.
“We can trust her,” Eric said.
“Because Brody’s in love with her?” Sean asked.
“No, because Brody is the best judge of character of anyone I know. If he’s in love with her, she’s a good woman. Therefore, we can trust her,” Logan said.
Sean wasn’t trying to be confrontational, he was doing his job, but I could see that Logan didn’t like his line of questioning nor did Eric. I didn’t blame Sean, but it made me feel good to see my friends stand up for me, even if I didn’t need it.
“Okay, then you can talk to her and see what she knows. Find out if there’s any additional information on Blackwell,” said Sean.
“Okay,” I said.
“It’s so cute. We just gave him an excuse to talk to his lady love,” Logan said.
“There’s nothing wrong with finding an attractive woman, well attractive. Sue me,” I said.
“No, it’s more fun to tease you. I haven’t seen you stammer like you did last night since we went through interrogation training,” Logan said.
“I got through that with flying colors. I was top of the class,” I countered.
“Eventually,” Logan said.
“Will you talk to her?” Eric asked.
“Of course, I can talk to her.”
