Or did the thought of me touching her, tasting her, fucking her, exciteher as much as it excited me?

My lips curled into a sly smile as the thought of all the ways I’d fuckher sprung to my mind.

Silly, silly Star.

Chapter 10

Riley

Imusthavehada brain to mouth malfunction again because myhead wanted to tell Kai to go fuck himself but my mouth had other ideas.

“In that case, I agree to your terms.”

I think he was as surprised as I was, but how could I turn downthe offer to give Angel the best possible life?

And it was for six months.

One hundred and eighty-two days.

That was all I had to get through to make this happen. I’d never beable to forgive myself if I walked away from a once in a lifetime opportunity like this. I tried not to dwell on all the things I’d be required to do during that time, there was no point fretting about it now.

Kai’s lips turned up into the most wicked smile I had ever seen on aman, sending a shiver of fear down my spine and made me want to rewind the clock and take back my words of agreement.

Terrifying did not sum up just how scary this man was.

“Seal the deal, Riley,” he said smugly as he offered his hand to me.

This was it, there would be no going back after this. I peeked over atmy sleeping sister once more, just to remind myself of what was at stake.

Seeing her fast asleep and remembering Kai’s words of how easy itwas for his men to take her, I knew without a shadow of a doubt I was doing the right thing, Angel needed to get as far as fucking possible from Hollows Bay and this was going to be a step in that direction. He was offering her a life I’d never be able to give her, no matter how hard I tried.

Summoning up as much bravery as I could muster, I reached out andtook Kai’s hand. His large, cold hand wrapped around my tiny one and he gave it a firm but quick shake. Butterflies stirred deep in my belly as a strange feeling washed over me, one of fear mixed with morbid curiosity.

“I’ll let you spend some time with Angel to explain things while I geteverything organized. Her tutor will start tomorrow.” His tone was all business, his face void of any emotion.

As he turned to walk towards the door, my fists clenched. Hiscomment of ‘letting me spend some time with her’ sent waves of anger through me and I almost told him to shove his deal where the sun doesn’t shine.

But it was too late, the deal had been struck. He said he was a manof his word and until he proved otherwise, I would be a woman ofmyword.

Best get fucking used to this.

Besides, I’d been through some shit over the years. Surviving sixmonths with Kai Wolfe was going to be hard, but I’d get through it one way or another.

Whether I’d walk away unscathed was yet to be seen.

“One of my staff will bring you both some food, I imagine you’restarving,” Kai said.

I hadn’t really thought about food until then, I was used to goingdays without much sustenance but now he had mentioned it, I was suddenly ravenous.

I didn’t reply, just watched as he used his thumbprint tounlock the door and walk out without giving me so much as a backward glance.

The second the door shut and the tension evaporated from the room,I let out an enormous sigh. My whole body had been tense throughout my conversation but now he was gone, I unclenched, leaving behind a dull ache in my muscles.

I made my way over to Angel’s sleeping form and lay down besideher so I was facing her. I don’t know how much time passed as I lay staring at my sister, just looking at her face.

She was the spitting image of me, with the same straight chestnutbrown hair, long lashes that fanned under high cheekbones as she slept, and pouty lips, all traits we’d inherited from our mom. The only difference between us was our noses, mine was small, round, and slightly flat, the same as my father's, whereas hers was longer but upturned, a trait she didn’t get from either parent.

I barely blinked as I lay there watching her breathing in and out, allmanner of thoughts about what the fuck had happened running through my head.
