"Youarenotgoingout in that. Get fucking changed!" Danny growledat me as he stood in the doorway, taking in my outfit.

"Nope," I replied, not in the least bit worried about giving him attitude. Danny was a pussy cat, he may have looked like a scary fucker buthe was as soft as shit. Granted, I wouldn’t want to meet him down a dark alley, but I knew full well he was harmless to me, and therefore I had no problem sassing him, if anything it kept him on his toes.

"If I've got to go to that place, then I'm going to look my damnedfinest." I finished adding the last coat of lip gloss and smacked my lips together. Stepping back from the mirror I couldn't help but smile at the reflection staring back at me.

I felt like me again.

When Danny had announced he was taking me to Sapphire, I hadbeenveryreluctant to go. I didn't want to spend the evening surrounded by beautiful women and constantly wondering which of them Kai had fucked, not for me, thank you very much. But the alternative was spending another evening in Kai's apartmentand quite frankly I was bored out of my mind.

Kai still wasn't back from his adventures of hunting down DetectiveAnderson and I had no clue when he was coming home. As much as I'd kept myself busy by spending time with Angel, working out in Kai's gym, and playing snooker with Danny, I wasn't used to spending this amount of time inside and I was climbing the walls.

"Come on, Riles, Kai will kill me if he knows you're going out likethat." Danny’s mouth pressed into a thin line as he once again eyedmy outfit.

I understood why he was frustrated, the dress was a tad bit on therisqué side. It was a tight-fitting short black dress, so short that my ass cheeks almost peeked out the bottom. The material clung to my skin showing off my curves and the material at the waistline split into two, each bit coming up and covering a breast, but leaving a gaping hole between them before coming to tie up behind my neck.

I’d opted for skyscraper black heels which made my toned legs looklonger than what they were. My makeup was perfect, with smokey eyeshadow, thick eyeliner, and red glossy lips. I’d pulled my hair back into a high ponytail to complete my look.

“Yeah well, Kai isn’t here so….” I said, shrugging a shoulder. “Besides, if he didn’t want me to wear outfits like this, then why’d he buy it? It was in my closet after all.”

Danny huffed and cursed under his breath. He checked the watch onhis wrist before huffing again.

“Fine. But you are not to leave my side tonight, you hear?”

I grabbed my clutch purse and made my way over to him, a smuglittle smile playing on my lips and enjoying the horror on his face as I swayed my hips.

Danny and I had grown closer over the last couple of days and wehad established a relationship where he was like an overprotective big brother and I was his annoying sister, andohhow I enjoyed annoying him.He scowled as I got closer and rolled his eyes but didn’t comment onmy dress anymore. Instead, he turned to walk out of my room and I followed.

“Did Kai say when he would be back?” I asked as my heels clickedagainst the marble floor.

“No,” Danny said, sounding a little softer. We reached the elevator, and he used his thumb to open the door.

“I just don’t understand why Kai is letting you take me out when heclearly doesn’t want me to leave the apartment.” I gave Danny a confused look because I genuinely couldn’t understand it. I’d given him an earache with my constant whining about going out these last few days and it had always been met with a resoundingno, so color me curious.

“I told you earlier, I was fed up with your bitching and Kai took pity onme. With all the security at Sapphire, you won’t be at any more risk than what you are here, so he agreed I could take you there to give my ears a rest.” There was humor in his voice and I wondered if he’d secretly enjoyed these last couple of days of babysitting me.

I knew he’d also enjoyed the extra time getting to know Jane, I hadcaught him sneaking out of her room one night, much to my amusement.

I didn’t say anything as the elevator came to a stop and Dannyushered me out to the waiting SUV and four armed men, all of whom were wearing suits, waited for us. I guessed they were extra security for my little trip out.I can’t say I was particularly looking forward to going to Sapphire ofall places. I’d also been hoping all day that Kai would be home tonight and we could spend the night making up for lost time, but it was looking like he’d be away for at least another night.

Danny cursed under his breath as we approached the waiting menand I realized it was because the four of them were all gawking at me with their mouths open, a look of longing etched on every one of their faces. A little part of me thought I should go back upstairs and put something a little less slutty on, knowing full well Kai wouldn't approve of my outfit choice.

But fuck him. He wasn't here, and I'd actually found something I wascomfortable in. I was also feeling a little rebellious knowing there wasn’t a damn thing Kai could do to stop me, maybe he shouldn’t have locked me up for the last three days.

Frank greeted me as I climbed into the rear of the SUV although hekept his eyes averted which I was grateful for, I thought I had flashed a little of my barely there panties as I got in.

Danny swiftly followed and the four other men got in two other waitingvehicles. Within seconds all three cars headed out, maneuvering into some kind of formation so one of the cars the guards were in was at the front of the convoy, the SUV I was in, was in the middle, and the last car behind us as we made out way through the streets towards the club and my own personal version of hell.

Danny and Frank chatted the entire way, talking about a new car Kaiwas buying. I'd lost interest pretty quickly, having never driven a car in my life and not being able to afford the luxury of getting a cab to and from work, so I knew a big fat zero about makes and models of cars. All I heard was that an insane amount of money was being spent on this car, making me roll my eyes.

I stared out the window, mainly thinking about Kai, and before I knewit, we were pulling up outside Sapphire, the growing sense of trepidation in my belly deepening. Especially when the first thing I saw at the front of the club was two stunning women, dressed intinygold bikinis and welcoming in the customers.

I seriously debated feigning a headache to get Danny to take mehome, or if I should go with period pains, men always freaked out when women talked about that, but before I had the chance to get my words out, Frank was opening my door and helping me to my feet.

The entrance to the club was lit up in dazzling bright lights, there wasa queue of people lined up waiting to get in, the line stretching far back and around the block, and every person had spent hours getting glammed up, making me very freaking glad I had stuck to my guns about the dress I was wearing.

At the front entrance was a red carpet that led up to two black marblesteps and into the club itself, and aside from the two bikini-clad babes at the entrance, there were four doormen searching everyone and checking their membership cards.

One of the men leaned forward to shake Danny’s hand and as he did,I saw the handle of his gun discreetly tucked inside his jacket. It probably should have worried me that there were armed men at the door, but given what had happened at the charity ball, I was kind of glad they were armed. I knew Danny would be too, he’d previously mentioned that none of them went anywhere without at least one gun strapped to them. The doorman unclipped the rope barrier that was preventing anyonefrom queue jumping, not that I imagined anyone would be brave enough to chance it in front of these four monster-sized men, and he stepped aside to let us in.
