“Wait for me. We can ride together.”

Caleb wondered if she left him to reunite with Cole. That thought made his jaw tick faster and even more anger brew inside of him. He had to make her understand she didn’t have to run to another man. Not when her body had shown every sign she wanted to run to him.

If she thought he missed her hooded brown eyes, swollen nipples, and her tongue sliding across her lips as she watched him in the shower, she was mistaken. There was also no mistaking that she’d run from the mounting sexual tension between them. She didn’t know he’d follow her wherever she went. This time, he wasn’t letting go.

The guard trailing her informed Dimir of her location, including the hotel room number. When Caleb received the update, he smiled. She’d gone to a hotel and not Cole’s house.

“You can hang out in the lobby while I go up to talk to her,” Caleb told Dimir when they arrived. They got out of the car and walked into the building. They walked through the lobby and toward the elevator. “I said, you can stay down here while I go talk to her,” Caleb repeated in case Dimir hadn’t comprehended what he’d said.

“Mr. Fitzgerald—”

“Caleb.”

“Okay, Caleb. I know you want your privacy, but I have a one-hundred percent get-the-job-done rate. Her safety is my job, and she got away from me. That won’t happen again, so unless you discontinue your services, I’ll be standing guard outside her room.”

Caleb smirked and stepped into the elevator. It was frustrating to have a tagalong. He also knew had it not been for Dimir she’d have gotten away. Dimir stepped in beside him and clasped his hands together in front of him.

When they arrived on the third floor, they walked briskly to room 312. The guard that followed her there stood inconspicuously on the opposite end of the hallway.

Caleb immediately started banging on the door. He watched the peephole go dark and light again. “Open up, Tiera. I know you’re in there.”

“Caleb, please leave. I’m here for a reason.”

“Open the door.”

“I don’t need you to be safe. I can take care of myself.”

“I know you can, but I take care of you better.”

“Leave.”

“Never.”

She flung the door open. “I hope you know you’re a pain in my ass.”

His eyes drifted to her waist. Oh, how he would love to be a pain in her ass.

She glared, daring him to say what he was thinking. “What do you want?”

He left her at the door and walked into the room. “Since you insist on staying here, I guess this is where we’re both staying.”

She shook her head vigorously. “We? Wait, no. You have to go. And take your guard with you.”

He strode through the room as if he owned the place. “What have you planned for the rest of the day since we’re taking the day off?”

“Again, we don’t have plans. There is no we. This is my room, and you’re leaving.”

“If you haven’t realized it, I have no intention of leaving you alone, Tiera.”

She frowned. “What are you even saying?”

He walked over to the lounger and sat down. He kicked his legs up and looked at her. “I’m saying you tried to leave me, but I’m not letting you go.”

“I can protect myself. I don’t need anyone guarding me.”

“Oh, but this is so much deeper than security detail, Tiera.”

Irritation marred her face. “I’m not a game to play when you’re horny, Caleb. Find another girl to pretend to want.”
