“I’ve already told you what I want tonight, so if you want me to be your security guard, we can role-play the shit out of it and see ourselves out of this place.”

WALKING OUT

“Tell me why we had to rush out of there tonight?” Delaney asked, her arm laced through his as she held close to him for warmth. The jacket she wore was too thin for fall in New York City, but it was the one in the closet that matched Delaney’s new red dress the best.

“You know I hate things like that. I only went in the first place to make the required appearance,” he told her, enjoying how her body felt against his, their strides in synch as they walked down the city streets. It would just be another couple blocks to the subway and a short ride to Delaney’s place and they could warm up and get rid of their formal wear.

“Tell me something else,” she said, finding Elliott’s undivided attention so enjoyable.

“What’s on your mind?”

“You’re smart. You're sexy. You have a great job. And any girl would be fucking lucky to date you. Why am I your booty call?”

Elliott‘s pause in conversation made the short walk to the subway entrance feel like there were miles to go before they'd arrive. But eventually they did and he stopped her before they descended the stairs.

“You’re my very best friend, the one I confide in and trust completely, mind, body, and soul.” The inflection of his voice and the way the word body rolled off his tongue made Delaney’s breath hitch.

“I know.” Her words caught in her throat and the bustle of New York City paired with the silence between them became too much to handle. Everything and everyone around them was just as if nothing was out of the ordinary.

“We can talk more when we’re back at your place. And alone.”

“And warm,” she added, holding tighter to his arm as they walked down the subway stairs.

Up to her loft apartment they went, not discussing the questions Delaney asked on the walk back. They were quiet the entire subway ride too.

“If you don’t want this…booty call, as you so eloquently labeled it…” Elliott took a deep breath before continuing. “I can be a gentleman for you. But the rest of the world will see the disdain written all over my face when I leave you here alone tonight.”

“I didn’t say that,” Delaney said, careful to unzip the back of her dress gently, wanting to preserve it for another occasion. She laid it gently over the back of a chair in her living room. “I just want to know more of the mystery behind my nerdy, sexy best friend.”

“You know everything about me. We’ve known each other our whole lives.” Elliott was standing there watching every move she made while stripping her clothes off in front of him; the shyness between them was non-existent at this point in their relationship, or rather friendship. After all, this wasn’t their first rodeo.

“I’m not any good for you, girl. Surely you know that by now.” And there he went talking badly of himself again. “You have the ability to date high-caliber men. I’m just a smart guy who’s not very smart when it comes to women, apparently.”

“Yeah. You’re not. Because I’ve been right in front of you for a long time.”

Delaney’s impatience was showing.

“But we’re not going to talk anymore about that tonight,” she ordered. “Tonight, you’re not just going to quick fuck me like we do when we need to get off in between partners. Tonight,” she visibly swallowed and unclasped her bra, “tonight you’re going to make love to me slowly. You’re going to take your time. And we can continue this conversation in the morning.”

“Now who’s ravishing?”

Elliott peeled back his jacket and loosened his tie, pulling it away and tossing it to the floor; the slapping noise it made as it came off enticed Delaney closer to him.

“You didn’t let me take off your dress,” he whispered as she took over unbuttoning his crisp white tux shirt.

“You wouldn’t have been gentle. And it’s designer.”

“With your salary now? Pfft. Could easily buy another…”

His undershirt went over his head and Delaney moved onto his pants, undoing the buckle and sliding it out of the belt loops. Swish, it went in one swift motion.

Taking her time undressing him was not sitting well with Elliott. An impatient growl escaped his lips and he pulled her against him, her hands finding their way inside his pants, releasing them to the floor.

“Kiss me,” he hissed against her cheek. Delaney turned her face toward his, looking him straight In the eyes.

“You might be the only one I let tell me what to do, you know that right?” A smug smile grew across Delaney’s face as he brought his lips to hers. The pair didn’t do a lot of sweet kissing. What they shared was always hard and fast and erotic, not sweet and gentle and slow. He took his time exploring her, truly loving on her, which was not their normal rendezvous.

“No matter who you’re with, I want you to remember that this little spot right here,” Elliott grazed the spot just below her ear at her jawline, “this spot is mine.”
