“I’m not sure.” Liam sounds very serious for a guy who just had an epic-sounding orgasm. “Look outside.”
Cash, Nole, and I all turn to stare out the front window.
“Whoa,” I say, taking in all the snow. “How long were we having sex?”
All three of my men puff out their chests. Men will seriously think everything is commentary on their stamina. Though, theirs is rather impressive.
“I’ll be right back.” Liam gets to his feet and heads upstairs.
He’s got an amazing ass, so I watch him go. And lick my lips. And consider initiating round two.
Nole snuggles against my back while we wait, and Cash takes Liam’s place. “Look up,” he says.
I follow his gaze and burst out laughing. “You didn’t need to make that mistletoe fly over here just so I’d kiss you.”
Cash shoots me a serious look. “It’s tradition.”
I’m not one to ever turn my back on tradition, so I pull his head down and cover his lips with mine.
Booted footsteps interrupt us as Liam rejoins us in full police uniform, his phone pressed to his ear. “Are you sure, sir?” There’s a slight pause. “Yes, sir.” Another pause. “Yes, sir.”
Liam grins.
I glance out the window at the falling snow. “I guess we’re staying home?”
Liam frowns. “Why would you think that?”
“Because you’re smiling? I know you weren’t too thrilled when the chief asked if I’d do some undercover work for the station. And with the snow, I figure everything in town is closed.” At his frown, I quickly add, “Not that I mind. There are worse ways to spend the day than naked with three delicious mates.” I wink, but Liam’s frown deepens. “And I can think of some things I haven’t had time to do yet with the three of you.”
Liam’s gaze roves over my body, but he hesitates. “Do you no longer want to go undercover?”
“Of course I do. And if the mission is back on once the snow stops, I’ll do it… Unless you guys don’t want me to. I don’t want you to worry. Especially not when it’s Christmas. We should spend it as a family. And I don’t need to catch bad guys to have adventures.” I glance from my naked, hairy bear shifter, to my vampire mage, to my troll. “Maybe I’ll be really bad and then you three will have to catch me. I might even need to be punished.”
My mates’ pupils dilate, but they don’t pounce the way I expect them to.
Nole takes my hands in his instead. “Vi, I’m really sorry I made you feel like you should quit. I never wanted you to give up doing undercover work. Okay, I know I said I did, but I was just worried. I still am. I don’t want you to get hurt. But earlier, when I tried to grab you, you proved you could handle yourself, even with that magic dampener on.”
Liam lets out an appreciative growl. “You should see our Violet in shifted form. She’s magnificent.”
Nole nods. “I don’t doubt it. Vi, I’ve known you long enough to realize that you can handle yourself and make your own choices.” He squeezes my hands. “You’re my mate, and I love you, so I’ll always worry. But I never want to stand in your way. Ever!”
“I know. But I don’t want you to worry. And if you think going undercover isn’t safe, I—”
Cash places his hands on my shoulders. “Liam would never put you in danger. So if he says it’s safe, then it’s safe.”
“It is,” Liam agrees. “All Violet has to do is wear a hidden mic and pretend to be the photographer. If anything goes wrong, I’ll be right there, and so will half the station. I’ve taken every precaution.”
I smile. “It’s just too bad the snow storm ruined everything, huh? I guess we’ll have to do it another time?”
“About that…” Liam clears his throat. “Everything’s already in place for tonight. Chief thinks we’ll tip off the dealer if we reschedule, so the mission’s going ahead as planned.”
I let out a whoop, and my guys take turns pulling me into tight hugs and celebrating with me. Then I head upstairs with my guys to get dressed. Knowing that I have three wonderful mates who will always support me no matter what makes my heart glow.
Now that is the true magic of Christmas.
