“Fuck no.”
“Then we don’t have to do this right now.”
I squeeze her ass to let her know it’s okay to talk about it. I’m not going to get all crazy on her for having doubts about me being out of town. She hasn’t known me very long and I’m sure it’s something she thought about, since I didn’t call her right away, I guess.
“I agreed to be exclusive to you,” I remind her. “I’m not gonna fuck that up.”
“Then what about before?”
“I told you, baby. My manager brought me over a few people for marketing and I got caught up. Trust me when I say that I only wanted to talk to you at that time. Why do you think I chased you around my kitchen?”
“Because you’re insatiable.”
It’s definitely not a question, but an observation.
“I’m not going to be sorry about that where you’re concerned,” I say honestly. “You don’t make it easy.”
“Yeah, well, you make it hard.”
I smile. “No, I thinkyoumake it hard.” Receiving a smack to my chest, I turn to my side and keep her latched to me, tangling my legs with hers. “You okay now?”
“I’m fine,” she drones. “I was finebefore.”
“I was just making sure.” I run my hand underneath her shirt. “Because, if you’re not, I can help remedy the situation for you.”
“I should’ve left you at that bar.”
Now I’m full-out laughing because she could’ve, but the attraction was immediate. I couldn’t stop looking and talking to her, which isn’t exactly my forfeit, and I couldn’t give it up. I wasn’t able to let this redhead beauty walk out of my life without having a taste.
And she’s more than that.
Something that could flourish into more, but I don’t think I’m ready to take that step. Ever since Olivia, I’ve been more cautious than I was before. This might be overdoing it, but it’s the pace that I feel comfortable at.
Where I feel mentally stable, a bit.
“I’m glad I took you out on that fake date,” I say. “I just wish I would’ve paid more attention to you in that dress instead of where I was at.”
“You did later.” Her palm falls onto my naked chest.
“Not enough.”
Molly’s lips curl. “Aw, Kai…you like me.”
“Oh, geezus.”
She gasps in fake shock. “Oh my god, that’s so sweet. You like me. Do I get a flower picked out of someone’s garden? Are you going to write me a poem?”
“No.”
“How about a cupcake?” She snaps her fingers. “Or maybe a little note where I can circle yes or no.”
“You’re fucked in the head.”
“Are you going to ask to hold my hand?” Molly bats her eyelashes innocently at me.
“You’re gonna fly away if you don’t stop doing that.”
Molly chuckles and cuddles closer to me. “Yeah…but you might catch me.”
