She paused. “You have a point.”
He smiled. “So, city team to stellar team, can I kiss you again?”
“Uh, sure—”
His lips were against hers, and she felt the tip of his tongue drawing along the seam of her lips. She opened her mouth, and he eased into tasting her. He groaned in a deep rumble, and she felt it along all parts of her body.
Ondine shuddered and sighed when his tongue touched hers, coaxing her into participating. Instincts that she didn’t know her body had woke up and were making her nervous and excited. She hadn’t felt this jittery since her first assignment.
The book cover squeaked as she clenched on it, and she leaned into Geero’s kiss, her tongue sliding along his and her body clenching and things happening that she hadn’t experienced before. She got wet. A rush of something had left her, and if it had been battle, she would have suspected blood. As it was, the romance novels had let her know what was happening, but she had no idea it would feel likethat.
He framed her face with his hands, and they continued the kiss with her hands firmly on the book. Her legs shifted, and she acknowledged that she was slick, but it wasn’t quite the mess her mind had painted.
The kiss slowed, and he lifted his head, nipping softly at her lips as he leaned back.
She whispered, “Sorry, I don’t make much noise. I think most of my type are supposed to be loud.”
“And you have to be quiet when you get excited because you are in battle.” He smiled and nibbled at her lips. “I am flattered that your heartbeat elevated to where it was a concern.”
She blushed and tilted her head to catch his mouth, and they were off again. She felt the book tearing and tossed it aside before clenching her hands together.
He released the soft side of her face, grabbed her hands, and pressed them to his chest. He growled as she gripped his neck and pulled herself tight to him, and she paused, breaking their kiss. “You’re an alpha.”
“It was one of your sister’s search criteria.” He smiled and licked and kissed at her lips. “Ability to cook and be handy around the house were also there.”
She braced herself away from him, panting. “Why would you agree to that?”
“It sounded like fun. She didn’t want sex, and it felt like she wanted an older brother.” He chuckled. “I have been an older brother before. I still am, actually. He’s got a mate.”
“Younger brother has a mate? Good for him. An active?”
“Yes. He’s part of a consortium. There are five of them to one very active female. They have four canisters going right now. They are going to have a lot of kids.”
“Oh. I know the group you are referring to. Drin’s Elf Star Consortium.”
He smiled. “That’s the one.”
“I know a lot of escorts, and I have met Drin a time or two. The folks at Z-Corp are familiar with me if they are on any of the research floors.” She chuckled. “I have a private key to the freight elevators. I now know why alphas and omegas rarely work together. I have caught Arcady and Kritz more times than I can count.”
“Seeing them didn’t set anything off for you?”
She shrugged. “Not my body, not my skin. If I reacted to everything I saw, I wouldn’t get anything done.”
Geero nodded. “Good point. There aren’t a lot of female actives on teams, so I was just wondering.”
She nodded. “I will answer most questions.”
“How long can you stay in the suit?”
“My record is seven days, but I was in space and had to wait for a pickup. I could have gone longer.”
“Sure, sure, that’s what they all say.” Geero chuckled.
She really wanted to kiss him again, but she looked at the book and didn’t want to tear it in half or him, for that matter.
Ondine leaned toward him and said, “Can we try kissing again?”
He smiled. “Of course.”
