I watch her disappear into the bathroom before grabbing my phone.

If she is as sure about our future as I am, then I’m not going to waste a single moment trying to plan things out. It’s time to go with the flow and let the chips fall where they may.

Tyson is sittingin the conference room with my siblings, Sofia, and Brennan when we finally find him. Damien looks up and nods to me as we enter. Brielle hurries over to take the empty chair between Sofia and Aria, immediately smiling and laughing with both of them.

Good to see that there isn’t much awkwardness there.

Though Sofia is a great person, I wasn’t sure how she would react to having a half-sister.

I sit down in one of the empty chairs, watching her for a moment. The kids run by in the hallway, one of the other members of the famiglia chasing behind them.

“Alright,” Matteo says as he leans back in his chair. “I have an important day of bedrest to look forward to after this. Let’s get it started so I can go back to staring at a wall.”

Brielle smiles at him, but I can see the flash of guilt rush across her face.

I hate that she is still blaming herself for this.

As Tyson talks about what we currently know about her parents, I send another message to my realtor, confirming which properties I’m interested in seeing.

“Alright, so, your parents have completely disappeared,” Tyson says as he looks at Brielle. “We don’t know where they are and we don’t know how to find them yet. We have plenty of connections in both Italy and Mexico, but we’re pretty sure they’re going to avoid both places.”

“They’re probably going to leave the country and come back at some point,” Damien says, turning to face her with a frown. “We know that they want to use you against Sofia. They’re going to return for you at some point and that is when we capture them.”

Brielle nods. “I don’t want to kill them anymore. That’s too easy of an out for them. I want them to spend the rest of their lives rotting in jail and knowing that their plans failed. I want to ruin their lives the way they ruined mine for years.”

Tyson grins and pulls his laptop over to him, typing something quickly. “I can make that happen. If we don’t have enough evidence against them based on the kidnapping alone, then we can get them on other things, both real and fabricated. You won’t have to worry about them ever again.”

She breathes a sigh of relief, tears glistening in her eyes. “Good. I just want to live a normal life.”

Aria chuckles. “There’s no such thing as a normal life with this family.”

Brielle looks at me and winks while the rest of the room starts talking about how we’re going to continue to work on tracking her parents. Even though I’m listening to what they’re saying, the only person I can focus on is the woman I’m going to make my wife.

A few hoursafter the meeting ends, we arrive at the first property my realtor sent me. The house is nearly an hour outside of the city and sitting on a massive piece of property that has its own lake. It used to be a cattle ranch several years ago, but now it is just a large property with a stunning house.

Brielle gasps as she gets out of the car, looking up at the massive house made of white rock and red-toned wood. The windows are large and overlook the entire property. I grin as she takes my hand and pulls me over to the stairs leading up to the porch.

When we enter the house, her jaw drops. The floors are the same red-toned wood as the exterior and the walls are white. Even though we’re standing at the front door, we can see out of the window on the opposite side of the house.

“How many bedrooms are there?” Brielle asks, making her way through the living room and to the kitchen.

“Seven.”

“You want six kids?” She looks over her shoulder at me. “I hope you’re the one planning on pushing them out. I want a big family but six seems like a lot.”

“Well, we could have a couple guest bedrooms.”

“I’m going to need a dark room for photography,” she says, her entire face lighting up. “And an office to work in.”

“I have a plan for that too, if you want to hear it.”

She walks over to me and loops her arms around my waist, tilting her head back to look up at me. “I would love to hear it.”

“There’s a couple different barns on the property. I was thinking that we could renovate the newer one into a place for you to work. Whatever you want out there, we’ll make it happen.”
