“That doesn’t mean it wasn’t hard on you, too.”
He merely nods and tips back the rest of his drink before setting it down beside him. These alphas. They hate to admit any weakness.
“You’re heading out?” He nods toward my outfit, his eyes lingering on my exposed legs a fraction of a second longer than I’d tolerate from anyone else. When his eyes meet mine again, the heat there is undeniable. Mine must be blazing. Clearing my throat, I step back, needing to put some distance between us or between me and that towel. It takes every bit of willpower I have to stop my eyes from dropping to the front to see if anything is stirring. Or to keep my fingers from snatching it away. He hasn’t had his shower yet. He doesn’t really need it.
“I couldn’t sleep. I’m hoping a run will burn off some of my excess energy.”
His rich laugh booms out as he throws his head back and scrubs a hand over his unshaven jaw. When he looks back at me, his eyes sparkle and I feel like I’m suffocating as the sexual tension in the room skyrockets.
“I know the feeling.”
His gaze falls on the sofa behind me, to where he made me come with ease, again, last night. When he lifts them back to mine, I can feel my face heating and I inch back even further.
“Sorry about that. I kind of left you hanging,” I whisper, fiddling with my fingers as I try to come up with something else to say, but my brain has stalled. Nathan pushes off the sideboard and prowls forward. I expect him to walk straight up to me, but instead, he moves past me, the bare skin of his arm brushing my shoulder. Relief floods me when I think he’s going to leave it at that. I’m flustered enough as it is.
But I should have known better. Nathan can’t help himself.
He stops and turns, dipping his head to speak just behind my ear, the heat radiating from his skin setting my senses on fire. His breath touches my cheek and I groan, a flutter of arousal starting in my core, and I feel myself dripping with need for him already.
“I’m not sorry. Seeing you come is the best thing I’ve ever watched. Tasting you is incredible.” Nathan makes a show of sniffing the air, letting me know he can scent the effect his mere words have on me. Heaven help me. “And your scent…” he brings his arms around my neck, letting his fingers brush right under my nose and around to his face, where he holds them to his lips and inhales deeply, “is fucking heaven.”
Oh, goddess. Is he serious? He hasn’t washed his hands. He’s smelling me on his fingers right in front of me at six o’clock in the morning. There is no reason that should be hot, but I’m close to begging him to take me right now.
Squeezing my eyes shut, I will my heart to stop racing and for my pussy to stop betraying me. I’m not prepared for this man at all. He chuckles when he hears my strangled whimpers. I have no idea what to say.
When I look at him again, he smiles, looking every bit the sexy devil that he is, before slowly releasing me and giving me some space. He gently touches a hand to my hip, and I freeze, waiting to see how he’s going to torment me next.
“Nathan,” I plead, not really sure what I’m asking for. For him to stop teasing me, sure. But do I want him to leave me alone or break through my weak resolve and carry me to his bed?
“If you want something, baby, you just need to ask for it. In the meantime, I’ll be picturing that pretty pink cunt of yours while I take care of this hard on you’ve left me with. Again.”
I can breathe as soon as his presence moves away from my back, but I have no idea how I’m supposed to go for a run when he’s turned my legs to jelly. His footsteps across the bouncy cream carpet disappear toward his room and I turn when I hear the ensuite door open, thinking the coast is clear. I was wrong, because just as he turns to step inside, I glimpse the massive erection straining at the front of his towel and gasp. With a cheeky smirk and a wink, he disappears into the bathroom, leaving the door wide open behind him, a silent invitation for me to follow him.
Moments later, the shower turns on and all I can picture is him naked, with warm water slipping over every hard muscle. I imagine his hands sliding over his slick skin, gripping his hard length and stroking himself to satisfaction. I itch to follow him, but I know exactly where that will lead. He has warned me. If I go in there, I’m giving myself to him completely.
“Ahh.” Forcing my feet to move, I growl in frustration as I shove my key card into the hidden pocket in my shorts. With one last longing glance toward Nathan’s room, I yank open the door and step into the hall.
Day one. It’s only been twenty-four hours and I can barely control myself. And he’s loving every second.
CHAPTER 28
MAYA
“So Nathan was right, youweregoing to sneak out without telling me,” Ross whispers into my ear.
I leap off the chair I’ve commandeered in the lobby, my heart pounding in my chest. I must have completely zoned out. A few guests turn to look our way as Ross doubles over laughing, one hand braced on his thick thigh, enjoying my reaction immensely.
I stumbled down here on wobbly legs and decided a run wasn’t going to be an option for at least a few minutes. Then I drifted off into daydreams about Nathan’s broad, flat pecs, and his tanned muscular thighs, and I struggled to make myself leave the building. All I could think of was going back up to that room and finishing what he started. To hell with the consequences.
“Maya? Maya?”
Ross snaps his fingers to get my attention and I jump. Shit. I did it again. Coming back to reality, I blink at Ross and realise I’ve drifted toward the elevator bank without meaning to, already halfway back to my room and Nathan. Frowning in confusion, I meet Ross’s gaze as he stares at me bemused, his head tilted to the side as he watches me closely.
“Outside is this way.”
I nod once and walk the way he is pointing, ignoring his annoying smirk as I pass. My hands are still shaky, and I clench my fists repeatedly to dispel some of the adrenaline coursing through my system.
“Seriously though, Maya. Are you okay?” Ross asks, catching the movement and falling into step beside me. The annoying grin is gone. Bodyguard Ross is here. Whatever I say to him will probably be in my brother's ear within the hour. They mean well, but it's suffocating. This was supposed to be a break. Or at least that's what I convinced myself when I agreed to it.
