I frowned, "It wouldn't kill you to be a little nicer when you're nervous."
"I tell her the same thing every day," Sarah sighed.
"You have it tough too, huh, Sarah?" I sighed as well.
"Are you two coming or not?" Catherine said as she started to walk ahead of us.
We followed behind her, both of us grinning.
As we walked into Sarah’s office, I shut the door behind us. Both of them made their way to the middle of the office with Catherine holding Sarah's hands.
"I… I don't know the right words to say," Catherine sighed.
"Just say it the best way you can," Sarah smiled.
"You… you're a good kisser, listener, and friend. You're more than a friend really, and ever since you started working here...from the moment I laid my eyes on you, I've been unable to look away," Catherine started to say.
From the moment I laid my eyes on you, I've been unable to look away.
I made a mental note to use that when proposing to Crystal.
"You complete me," she concluded as she produced the ring box from her pocket. She got down on one knee and opened the box, "Will you marry me?"
"So that's why you've been acting all weird lately," Sarah sighed and showed her finger, "I'll gladly marry you, Catherine."
They kissed and I applauded, "You two are going to give me love diabetes."
"You better hop to it and propose to her soon. You don't have all day, you know?" Sarah said.
"Relax, woman. I know what I'm doing," I said confidently, "I'm taking things slow, and this weekend I'm proposing."
"That's kind of… fast for something you claim to be taking slow," Catherine remarked.
"I know, I know, but I need to make sure there'll be no problems stemming from the workplace and all," I explained, "A part of me is considering waiting until she's done with her tenure here as an independent doctor, but that wouldn’t be a good idea."
"So, as soon as possible then?" Catherine raised a brow.
I nodded positively, "Well, I'm sure you two need to get mouthing, and I have to get changed and ready for when she comes to the office today."
"Thanks for the break," Catherine said.
"No problem," I smiled.
"Sir, you better not blow this," she warned.
"Why is everyone warning me? I'm not going to blow this!" I groaned as I left.
I made my way to my office, still in a good mood. I wanted to call Crystal, but I decided to compose myself and get some work done first.
And that was how I spent most of my blue-skyed day.
However, I was left with regret at the end.
The first regret was not telling Catherine that I had cut off my past flings and relationships. The second was that I didn't tell the security nor the receptionist to stop anyone from seeing me.
If only I had done that.
Maybe things would have ended differently.
