"One more thing. Now that you know she's the daughter of the man you couldn't save, will you push her away too? Like you did me?" she asked.

"I'd rather die," I replied.

"You damned womanizer," she chuckled as she let me go, wiping her tears, "I already knew I was out of the market."

"Don't say that, Hannah," I frowned.

"It's the truth, Adam," she shrugged, "Will you give me one last kiss?"

"I can't do that," I said.

"Was worth a shot," she sighed, "Now go get her."

I nodded and headed off.

"Oh, and, Adam?" She called, stopping me in my tracks. "I'm glad you finally found love. If you break her heart, Mariam and I will kill you."

"I'll avoid that at all costs," I said before leaving her behind and heading toward Crystal's room.

I knocked on her door, "Crystal? You there?"

Silence.

But the lights in her room were on. When we left the room earlier, she had turned off the lights.

She was inside.

"Crystal, I want to talk," I said as I knocked again.

"She doesn't lock the door," Mariam said.

"Oh, I see. Thank you," I said and she nodded.

"Take care of her, okay?" She said with a smile as she turned to leave.

I opened the door and found her cuddling with one of her teddy bears.

Chapter eighteen

Doubts and Promises

Crystal

I had forgotten what he was like before we met.

A womanizer.

He had always gotten any woman he wanted; and honestly, I had felt like I was just another easy target to him.

But the times we had spent together...bashing heads or tongues, or just having staring contests, or when he taught me things I didn't know. I felt I was different.

But the past had already happened. I didn't know how many women he had been involved with in the past. I tried my best not to think about the fact that there were others like me.

When he realized that I was the daughter of the man he couldn't save, I knew he really felt worried about me hating him.

Why would I hate him?

I couldn't even save one man dying in a similar case.
