"You've got more than just explaining to do. Your responsibilities have doubled as well," she said.

"I know, but I'm going to take care of everything. Right now I just want to see her," I pleaded.

"She's not going to see you," she warned, "She even told me not to let you in if you ever found this place."

"I know, but I just want to try," I said, "All I need is just a chance, please."

She stared at me, "Do you still love her?"

"I do, with every fiber and cell of my being," I replied.

She paused for a long moment.

"Oh my goodness, I totally forgot to collect my iron from the neighbor," she sighed as she left the door and headed to the next apartment, "Crap, now he’s going to keep talking and talking.”

She didn’t close the door, and I didn’t say anything.

“It would be a shame if anyone went into the house while I wasn’t aware,” she added without looking back.

I silently thanked her and went into the house, closing the door.

Crystal wasn’t in the living room or the kitchen. I knocked on her bedroom door and opened it. She was sitting on her bed reading a medical book on pediatric practice.

She looked up at me and frowned.

"How did you get in here?" She asked.

"The door was left open," I replied.

"Get out," she demanded.

"Crystal, not until I talk to you," I insisted.

She threw the book at me, but I dodged it.

"I guess you should have studied policing or criminology. You can throw the book at me anytime for loving you," I said.

She frowned and picked up her pillow and tossed it at me, but I gracefully dodged it as well, making my way to her bed.

“I mean it, Adam! Don't come near me," she warned as she continued throwing things at me. This time I didn't dodge them.

Her phone, watch, purse by her bedside…I let them all hit me. I wasn't going to run away from her. Not this time. Not ever again.

I got on the bed as she pressed herself against the headrest, a pen in her hand.

"I'm going to stab you," she warned, "Please don't touch me. Don't do what you're about to do."

I didn't listen and went ahead to embrace her as tightly as I could.

"I'm sorry," I apologized.

"I said stay away!" she yelled as she stabbed my back with the pen.

I winced from the pain, but I still didn't let go. I held onto her as tightly as possible.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," I repeated the apologies as she continued to have at it with my back until she stopped and her body started to shake.

"I hate you…you promised!" she sniffled.
