Sarah covered her mouth in shock.
"That bastard…" Catherine growled.
"It's okay. He doesn't know. I haven't told him, and I've been blocking him out a lot," I said. "Don't tell him anything about it, okay?"
"What do you want to do now?" Sarah asked.
"I'll just work in a different place and take care of the baby myself," I said.
"Be safe and careful," Catherine said, "Call us if you have any problems.”
"I will. Thank you," I said.
As I left the office, Harold approached me, grinning from ear to ear.
"Did you see the group chat?" he asked, weirdly excited.
"Yes, I did," I replied as I walked past him.
"I was shocked too. Well, not that shocked considering that he's someone who actually does things like that," he said as he walked with me.
"Is that so?"
"What's worse is that I saw it on Twitter as well. They identified her as one of the hospital's former patients. His credibility as a medical practitioner will suffer a lot after this," he explained, "One would think he'd be more careful."
"So it would seem," I sighed.
"Are you going somewhere?" He asked, "Work is not over yet."
"I'm leaving early tonight," I replied as I continued walking.
"But this is a good thing," he said, "Now you can see him for the scum he really is. Thank goodness you listened to me and stayed away from him."
I stopped walking.
"I even feel bad for the girl. Can you imagine if she got pregnant? He'd definitely tell her to abort it so he'd be safe and avoid child support," he continued talking.
I turned and looked at him, seething with rage.
"Is there a–" I cut his words short with a slap to his face. "Ow! What was that for?" He held his cheek in pain.
"You talked too much then a mosquito landed on your face," I replied calmly, "I tried to kill it and shut you up at the same time. Only one of those two tasks failed."
His face contorted in disbelief, "What happened to you?!"
"Nothing happened," I shrugged and turned to leave.
He didn't stop me. He wouldn't dare stop me.
I don't know why, but just listening to him had pissed me off. That's why I hit him.
I returned to my apartment. My aunt had returned to Richmond with me.
Before I could unlock the door, my aunt opened it then stepped out looking ready for war.
"You're back," she said.
"Yeah," I smiled weakly.
