She looked at me with questioning eyes.
I'm not your enemy, sweetie.
"Here you go, Vicky. Thanks for looking out for us," he said as he gave her her treats.
"Thank you," she said, trying her best not to grin.
The other girls were whispering and giggling amongst themselves while watching the two interact.
Seeing Vicky’s face was too adorable.
"Are you okay? You look red," he asked her and touched her cheek.
She jumped and took a step back, "I'll go show this to Edna."
She ran away and two of the girls followed after her.
"Must she show Edna?" One of the boys sighed.
Ah, of course the boys wouldn't know anything.
Besides that, I was really glad I visited. Hearing their back-and-forth bickering was healing to my soul.
But...if Adam was here, it would have been more fun.
Not the part where the girls would fangirl over him, though.
But I'd enjoy the face he'd make when James talked to me.
I missed him.
I hated that I missed him.
"Oh, there you are," Edna said as she came from the opposite direction Vicky had gone.
"Good morning, Edna," I greeted.
"Chocolate and candy bars? Where's mine?" she asked.
"Right here," I said as I gave her some Snickers.
"Thank you," she said as she opened the chocolate treat and took a bite, "Mmm, delicious. Where's Adam?"
"He's…busy," I looked away.
"You two had a fight?" She asked.
"No," I shook my head negatively.
"I know a separation when I see one," she said, "You don't have to talk about it though."
"Thank you," I said.
And she didn't ask about it again.
Maybe I should invite him to visit the kids together sometime...but just as friends.
When I entered the hospital later, I found Sarah staring at her phone.
