Crap, I wasn't listening again.

This wasn't good at all.

I needed to forget Adam.

"I'm full," I said as I moved my plate with half-eaten dumplings to the side.

"Your lack of appetite never ceases to amaze me," he sighed.

"Watching my weight," I said.

"Do you really have to? You look beautiful no matter what," he said with a smile, "You always have."

"Thank you," I said, "You can finish your meal."

"While you watch?" He raised a brow, "I'll feel nervous."

"Just do it," I insisted.

He chuckled and continued to eat.

He wasn't bad-looking. Not as handsome as Adam, nor as aggressive or proud.

But…he'd have to do.

To help me forget.

Just like Adam had done with my aunt, to forget about me. I needed to reset my memories.

***

Harold had taken me home.

"Thank you for the ride," I said.

"You're welcome," he said with a smile, "We should do this more often."

"You think so?" I asked. I hadn’t even listened half the time because my mind was occupied with someone else.

"Yeah," he replied, "It was like old times."

Old times…

"Harold, close your eyes," I requested.

"Okay," he whispered.

I leaned in close to his face then parted my lips slightly. We were a few inches apart, but my head refused to move.

Images of Adam kept flooding my mind.

His frown, his blush, his smirk, his smile, his lustful gaze…his lips.

A tear escaped my eye.

We were just apart from each other by mere inches, but I still couldn't kiss him.

"Guess I can't do it after all," I said as I pulled away.
