But I wanted her even more from that moment on, even if it meant making her owe me a debt.
So, I made it my mission to help her achieve that dream.
She didn't seem interested in relationships. Or maybe she actually sucked in relationships just like I did. She tried dating a girl. Realizing that she was bisexual actually made her a lot hotter. She didn't have much luck dating guys either. She always came back to me no matter how hard she tried for others.
It was taking her too long to realize that I was the only one who was the right match for her.
In my bid to help her achieve her dreams and have her owe me later, I decided to work at the hospital she would have loved to volunteer at.
I thought the legendary Adam Hunt would have been married by now, but he was single and living quite the life as a playboy.
"So this is what happens to geniuses who save lives?" I thought to myself when I saw him with his personal favorite.
It was none of my business.
I got Crystal the job she wanted; but, unfortunately, I wasn't around to watch over her.
I guess my guard was down because I knew both their personalities wouldn't mix.
But when I returned, everything had changed.
The sharpness in her eyes had softened dramatically. She was no longer as harsh as she used to be. It was strange. I had never seen her that way before, and it wasn't doing me any good.
Then the rumors…
Even when she denied them, I could tell there was truth in them.
She was constantly looking for him while she walked. They talked to each other normally in front of others and she was harsh too. But…both of them seemed to enjoy it.
Her gaze when she looked at him was different from when she looked at me.
Even when we play-flirted, her eyes simply told me to stay away.
But when she looked at him, all I could hear was one word… more.
It wasn’t fair.
I was there first.
I was there longer.
Why would she give the smile meant for me to someone else that easily?
I knew it was only a matter of time before the boss would mess up again, so I decided to wait.
And sure enough, he did.
When she ran to my arms for security, I knew she had finally realized my role in her life.
Or so I had thought…
"You're still thinking about him," I muttered as I drove away from her apartment.
He's a ruffian, a womanizer...practically everything you can't stand.
So why him?
What could he have possibly given you that I'm not able to give?
