I remember the faraway look he’d gotten in his eyes.

“Just imagine me, leading the good people of this precious town to glory and prosperity, heralding our journey into a great future.”

I had laughed at how dramatic he was being but I agreeed with him.

Ryan had so many amazing ideas that I knew would turn this town around. Not that Luca hasn’t done a great job or anything.

Looking at him now, in his beige blazer and pink check shirt, I can totally see him sitting in that chair and owning it.

“Earth to Evelyn.” Luca says and I turn and smile at him.

“Sorry, I was day dreaming of living in a town ruled by Ryan. It will be awesome.”

I say smiling.

“Um. No offense taken.” Luca says and I smile at him apologetically.

“Not that you haven’t been a great mayor, because you have. But Ryan is going to be epic.” I say as I turn to face him.

“I love how much faith you have in your friend.” He says and I smile and kiss the corner of his mouth.

“I have a ton of faith in you too. You’re going to be the best freaking senator this country, this whole universe has ever had.”

He raised an eyebrow.

“Including the aliens and another extraterrestrials?” He says placing s small kiss on my mouth.

“Even then.” I say kissing him back.

We try to maintain a professional relationship while at work but times like this when we get swept up in the moment makes it very hard. I detach myself from me and and he pays my hair down.

“I can’t wait to get you home, Ms Grey.” He says and I smile a sultry smile.

“I can’t wait to get you home, Mr senator.”

Ryan comesout of the office later in and we give him an encouraging smile.

“How was it?” Luca asks and he groans,

“Awful, everyone’s going to hate me. I might even get spitballs thrown at my face. Oh God, it’s middle school all over again.”

“I’m sure it’s not bad, but if you want I can come by tomorrow and help you some more” I offer and Ryan smiles.

“Thank you. The fist order of business when I’m elected is giving you a raise”

I clap my hands excitedly and I catch Luca looking at me incredulously.

“You’re staying here?” He asks and I nod,

“Of course I am.”

“Oh” he says and I know something’s wrong.

“Luca? What’s wrong?” I ask and he shakes his head.

“It’s nothing I just, I kinda thought you’d be coming with me when I leave.” He says and oh. Oh. We have not had that conversation yet.
