“Here we go. You can not even let her breathe.” I could sense the disgust in his tone. It was mixed with something equally thick and distinct. Yes, most definitely anger. “And she’s a stranger.” I had never seen this side to Luca, and I’d never imagined he could have something like this underneath. It was stupid to think, but I had never thought he could actually feel so repulsed by anyone. He always seemed so free. Yet again, there were people who just didn’t need to be trained before they knew how to push our buttons.
“I'm okay, Mr. Silvestri. I think everyone is a little bothered and frightened by something.”
His mother squealed. “See, she gets it.” Honestly, I wished she’d taken a hint and just let the argument die. But she kept yapping, irritating me, her new husband, standing there and saying nothing, leaving me no other choice but to interrupt.
“So, Luca says you guys are headed from Wisconsin… what’s the weather over there this time of year?” So, I had to wait for her to be fully out of sight before I strode down. I’d just say that was the longest ten minutes of my life. Stella loved to talk, and worse, she loved her phone almost to the point of addiction, so all the way out of the shop and down the street, she would stop and get distracted and start walking again. Lord knows it was frustrating. But, finally, I was at the caterer’s shop. I had spent days thinking about what I was going to get. Something that would embody the legacy of the town and yet say I wasn’t trying so hard. And even though that felt impossible, I was still going to do it.
Luca winked at me, in other words, thanking me for saving him and inciting a topic I knew his mother could not resist. Then, he took an excuse and left to speak to some actual important people he had intently invited.
“I'm leaving now,” he said. “Do you want me to get you anything?” I knew he was talking to me, because he started at me, and made me feel like we were the only ones inn the room.
“Just a taste of that punch,” I said, flushed.
And then, when he left, his mum interjected, “Such a charming young man. Took after his father in that regards.” I didn’t know how to follow that. Maybe I was waiting for her little husband to say something, anything, but he didn’t. And, while I waited, the perfect thing distracted us all from the awkwardness of the scene. My mother.
I had invited her, but I wasn’t so sure if she’d come. I wasn’t sure if she’d made it, and boy, did she make an entrance. Never had I been so excited to see her. The smile on my face extended to my ears, and I rushed to embrace her. But I suddenly paused when I saw a man slightly behind her. He had bushy brown hair, a crooked, yet charming smile, green eyes that complimented his alluring gaze. I knew him back from college. He was the guy I was dating. The one who I’d almost had a baby with. What was he doing here? And with my mother… then, I remembered what she’d told me over the phone.

“Evelyn, I’d love for you to meet someone.” She spread her hand over his shoulder and he caressed her waist. “This is Xander, my boyfriend.”
What in the actual fu…
ChapterTwenty-Two
Icouldn’t hold the shock. I couldn’t hold the scream. I had just hoped people did not turn around as quickly as they did. My mum was dating my ex. Oh my God! What if they had already had sex? Of course, they had. Xander was the horniest mother fucker back in college. He didn’t just know when I was not even in the mood. He just loved to get down. He would twirl my hair in a clockwise manner and squeal as I sucked his dick. My tongue slow and steady around his smooth, veined engine. He demanded I caller it that, an engine. He demanded I moaned too. If there was anything that turned him on it was that. My voice bouncing against the walls. My wails reverberating loudly, into his ears. He stroke louder each time, thrust deep into my mouth and let himself go. And I loved every single bit of that, even when he kissed my lips and took the cum from my mouth into his, even when he bent over me and laid on my ass, so I could feel his dick in my hole. Even when he called me his little shut. I was far above that now. But I couldn’t imagine him doing all these things he did to me to my mother. Or was it what she wanted?
They sat on the same round table as Luca, his mum and oddly mute step-dad Jamie. Together, it was an odd table. It was like neither of them had anything in common. Luca's mum, Brianne was so obsessed with health which Jamie had, and my mum and Xander who surprisingly had a lot in common, made fun of overly rich people with capitalist lifestyles.
“Can you even imagine having so much money you go build yourself a Palace on the moon?” my mum said.
“Actually, Elon is building that on Mars and it’s actually going really well.”
“Mars my ass!” Xander retorted. “Oh, crap, honey, that should be the name of my band.” He called my mum ‘honey’ and that made my skin crawl. I really needed Ryan right now, so he could laugh at all these things with me, but he just had to fall terribly ill.
“Oh, baby.” I loved seeing my mum happy, blushing at being called honey, but couldn’t she have scouted amongst the seven billion other men on the planet to call babe and not someone I had already dated. I wonder if she knew. I never told her about the guy, and she never asked. It was something that bonded us, even in the secrecy. Like she had gone through the same things too and she needed me to find a safe space in her. Now it was my turn to be less judgmental.
“Uhm…” I hummed thinking of what to say to settle the matter. “You know, Mars is practically Earth's duplicate. So, their biotransformation would go pretty well. But, there’s still so much land mass on Earth. There’s still so much left to explore. Why think of leaving Earth for Mars?”
“Well, maybe you’re right.” Brianne was the first to cave. “There are still so many countries I haven’t been to yet. And we were just planning on visiting the Himalayas, Malaga I’m Spain, and the lovely pyramids in Egypt.”
“Oh, wow, sounds terrific.”
“I know, right? It’s quite sad though. I really wish I could just make it to the outsides of the planet. See what it looks like beyond the planes of the ocean. Beyond the borders of the earth. Sail along the galaxies with my beloved Jamie.” She demonstrated with her hands like she had a paper plane in her hands. It was pretty hilarious, but mum and I just rolled our eyes at each other in mockery. Then, I asked her to come closer and I whispered in her ears, “I approve of Xander.”
Instantly, she expressed such relief on her face and I knew that she was totally tensed earlier and it was all because she didn’t know what I thought of him. I didn’t think I needed to tell her just yet that I knew him. Maybe it would come up organically. Maybe he would tell her later on in their relationship, but I needed her to be happy, and I needed her to know that I loved seeing her happy, alive and bursting with energy.
The first moment we turned back to face Jamie and Brianne, they had their faces totally into one another. It was a horrifying sight to see. More than seeing Ghostface for the first time, or even Chucky. It was like they could not control their horniness. And I'd have suspected someone with Brianne's charisma would be the duchess of Horningtown, but Jamie… Jamie was surprising. How he ruffled her hair eagerly, and powerfully, like he couldn’t wait to see what laid underneath. Really, I couldn’t understand what was going on. I looked over at Luca, and he was sitting on a table with his children, Matteo and Bianca, and his dad, Salvatore, and Holden's mum, Toni. I really didn’t want to head up to them because of the happenings of last time, but I decided I needed to, just so I could inform Luca of what his mum was doing, and you know, just to ask if he knew what the heck was happening to her.
But by the time I was heading there, he started walking to me, already. “Those two are acting weird.”
“Right? So you saw them from over there.”
“Saw who? I’m talking about my dad and Toni.”
“Wait, they’re also acting weird?”
“Yes, they’re also acting weird. Extra lovey dovey. It’s almost like they want to rip each other’s clothes off.”
