“Fuck off.” I reply, tossing my hair and shifting awkwardly on my feet. To be honest, I don’t know how to act because this is unexpected. Does he really expect me to fall to my knees before him and suck his gold lollipop before dinner?

A low chuckle makes my eyes swing in his direction, and he grins.

“I love it when you’re angry.”

I say nothing and swallow hard as he tosses his shirt on the floor and flexes his abs.

“It’s ok, I’m not going to pounce. I only want to run over a few things.”

“Then speak.”

He shakes his head and says with a low growl, “Don’t make me come and get you.”

“I’d like to see you try, asshole.” I snap back because the fuck I’m letting a man control me.

He sighs heavily and waves around the room with a raise of his eyes and I immediately know what he’s getting at. I’ve been in enough situations to know of hidden cameras and listening devices and so, feeling a little foolish, I head to his side and sit beside him as closely as possible.

“I really need to fuck you right now.”

He says in a slightly louder voice than normal, and I now understand the game he is playing.

“Then what are you waiting for?” I say, as I move and straddle him on the bed—just in case, of course.

He pulls my face to his and whispers against my lips, “Shower. Now.”

He stares pointedly at the door that I’m assuming leads to the bathroom and without another word, we stand, and I follow him into an old-fashioned ensuite. He rolls his eyes as I stifle a giggle at the gold-plated taps and roll top bath, the décor more from the fifties than present day.

My mouth drops along with his pants as he steps out of them in all his naked glory and with a smirk walks into the shower, turning the jets on full before leaning against the tiled wall while watching me with a challenge in his eyes.

“Really!” I form the word with my mouth, but no sound comes out, and he nods, and says loudly, “Hurry up baby, I thought you wanted me to scrub your back.”

The challenge hangs in the air between us and I’ve never backed down from one, so I slowly reach behind me and unzip my dress, letting it fall to a heap on the floor, revealing that underwear is something I’m not a fan of. The shock on his face as I stand before him in nothing but what God gave me makes it all worthwhile because two can play games and I kind of always like to win.

I move toward him with a smirk of my own and as I step into the shower, I take his hand in mine and say huskily, “Now, what were you saying about scrubbing my back?”

I turn away from him and let the jets cleanse my body and I reach for the soap and proceed to rub it over my body in slow, sensuous movements. He steps closer and reaches for my hair and drapes it over one shoulder and as his fingers gently massage my neck, I could be forgiven for thinking I did wake up in heaven after all. He drops light featherlike kisses on my neck and whispers, “Remember, we must play this part even when no one is around because this house has eyes and ears everywhere.”

I nod, vowing to do a general sweep of the room of my own because I’m used to scanning for devices, it’s part of my job description.

I shiver as he nibbles my ear and whispers huskily, “So you’re my fiancée now.”

I smile to myself, loving his teasing tone as the steam caresses my aching body.

“I thought you’d appreciate the gesture.”

“I suppose it comes with certain benefits.”

“Like a ring, perhaps. I prefer solitaire diamonds. Maybe we could shop for one in the morning.”

His lips trail a path from my neck to my shoulder and experiencing his touch on my skin is the most pleasure I’ve had in ages.

“It will cost you.” His low rumble against my ear makes me tremble and I whisper, “Doesn’t the man pay for the ring?”

I arch my back as his hand runs around my waist, splaying on my stomach and pulling me in harder.

“What do I get for my money?”

He moves his hand lower, and my senses are scrambled as I say with a sigh, “What do you want?”
