The men gathered their own mates in their arms, and nothing was said for a long moment.
“I want to know how the man got in the back door that’s supposed to stay locked?” Roman growled.
Nicole looked at the other women. She had no idea who had left it unlocked, and they all had opened the door at one time during the day for deliverymen or to take the garbage out.
The girls shrugged.
“We have no idea,” Nicole said.
“I’m sure your mates will go over the rules later,” Roman said. “Right now, let’s deal with the trash on the floor.”
“I have never seen him before,” Hunter said. “He’s probably a bum that drives around and never stays in one place.”
“Oh, my God. He said he has a daughter, and he tied her somewhere,” Brenna said.
“What else did he say?” Blake asked.
“He was going to take us with him and rape us,” Simone said.
All three men growled. Any chance the man had of getting put in jail and getting a free trial was gone. One or all the men would want to take the bastard out in the forest. Nicole thought she should be against the violence but a man like that had to be put down just like any other rabid animal.
Hunter flipped the man over and handcuffed him. “We want you girls to stay here, lock the doors, and put the ‘Closed’ sign up in the window.”
“Why can’t we help look for the girl?” Simone asked.
All three men scowled.
“Not going to happen,” Roman said. “I want my mate off her feet until I get back.”
The three women nodded and then watched as the men picked up the man off the floor and dragged him out the back. Nicole assumed they’d take him a few miles into the forest so no one could hear his screams.
She looked at her friends. “Is it bad that I want to be there when they kill the guy?”
The other two shook their heads.
“We feel the same way,” Brenna said.
“Let’s get off our feet,” Simone said. “I’ll make everyone some tea.”
“That sounds wonderful. I’ll lock us up and put the ‘Closed’ sign up,” Nicole said.
“I guess I’ll go and sit down,” Brenna said.
Nicole felt her energy start to mellow as she sat and drank tea.
“Are we going to ask them about the cameras?” Nicole asked.
“I think we should wait for a time when they’re not this upset,” Simone said.
“I agree,” Brenna said.
Nicole frowned. “I agree, too. There’s enough for them to stress over, but we can’t let it continue forever.”
“We won’t,” the other women said.
Chapter Eighteen
Hunter was still shaking since he’d checked on the girls and saw the man. He’d been running out of his office when Roman slid his vehicle to a stop in front of the bakery.
