Without a word, Hunter got up and grabbed two place settings and glasses.

Although the food was satisfying, being with the family for a meal and sitting around talking was something they rarely got to do because everyone was so busy. He caught the look the girls gave each other and wondered at it. It was like they had a secret, and that shit wouldn’t fly with him, and he doubted it would fly with Roman.

Nicole stood up and grabbed some plates. Roman pulled Brenna onto his lap when she tried to help.

“Babe, me and the brothers can do this,” Hunter said.

“But you all have physical jobs. You’ve got to be exhausted,” Nicole said.

“My mate is going upstairs, getting undressed, and waiting for me to bathe her.” Roman put his hand on her growing belly. “You’ve been on your feet all day.”

Roman raised a brow when Brenna went to argue. “Now, Mate.”

Brenna kissed his brother and stood. “Thank you for the wonderful dinner.”

“You’re welcome, honey,” Hunter said. He looked at Nicole. “I want you to go to our room and start the bathwater. I’ll be up shortly.”

He swatted her ass when she opened her mouth. “Go, Mate.”

He knew she would obey when he used a rough voice. He watched her leave and stood to pick up the dishes.

“Go, we got this. You have a mate to take care of,” Nico said.

“I can put in a few minutes. It’s like Nicole said. You guys are busting your butts to get this finished for us,” Hunter said.

“From what I saw on the outside, it looks amazing. I’ll look inside tomorrow before I take Brenna to work,” Roman said.

Hunter glanced at Roman as he started the water n the sink. “I might have to leave early. Can you take Nicole, too?”

Roman snorted. “Of course.”

Within a few minutes, the men had the kitchen clean. Hunter nodded and headed up to take care of his mate and maybe get some answers to what the girls were up to.

“Thank you, Roman,” Nicole said as she slid out of the truck.

Roman scowled. “You should have let me help, Nicole.”

“I’m sorry.” She always forgot how protective they were over them.

The alpha nodded. “Just don’t do it again.”

“I won’t.”

“Okay. Have a good day. I’m going to take a minute with my mate.”

Nicole grinned. “I’m sorry I haven’t asked Brenna today how the … what did you call it, Brenna, the pup is doing?”

Brenna narrowed her eyes at her.

Roman sighed. “Mate, you’re not going to have a puppy.”

Nicole waved as she walked away, chuckling, knowing she’d pay for that later. She unlocked the door and turned on the lights before moving into the back of the room to put away her purse and jacket and grab the ingredients to start some sweet rolls.

Within the hour, the store was open, and several people were in either buying something or sitting at one of the tables with coffee they provided and eating rolls. When things died down a bit, the girls sat down for coffee, and tea for Brenna because she was pregnant.

“I’ve tried looking around nonchalantly and haven’t found any cameras,” Simone said. “Maybe we’re wrong that they’re spying on us?”
