“We could go over our list of things to make tomorrow,” Simone said.
“You won’t have to wait too long. They know you’re ready to go,” Hunter said.
“Oh,” Nicole said innocently. “Were you guys talking before you came in here?”
“No, why?” Hunter said.
“How would they know we’re ready to go if you hadn’t told them?” Nicole asked.
Nicole had to bite her tongue when Hunter’s face reddened.
“Oh, well, I imagine they know what time it is, and you guys are always ready to go about this time. Right?”
The women nodded.
“That’s why,” he said and relaxed.
Nicole smiled up at him. “Okay.”
“Hey,” Roman said when he came in the back door.
Nicole saw him glance at Hunter and then at each of us.
“What’s going on?”
“Nothing. Simone ate too many cookies and got a stomachache. The girls were in the bathroom with her, and I didn’t see them when I came in.”
“He’s a worrywart,” Nicole said.
Hunter tightened his grip on her. “And I have good reason to be, Mate.”
Nicole rubbed his chest. “We’re both going to have to get past this.”
Hunter grunted. “Eventually.” He looked at his brother. “I’m taking her home. Are you going to wait for Blake?”
“I’m going to help the girls lock up and take Simone next door to him.”
“Sounds good. See you all in the morning.” Hunter grabbed her hand and led her out of the store.
Nicole had to bite her tongue as they drove home because she saw out of the corner of her eyes that Hunter kept glancing at her, but she ignored him and looked out her window.
The girls would find out what they were up to, and then there would be hell to pay.
Chapter Sixteen
Hunter speculated at Nicole’s attitude as they drove home. She was different than when he dropped her off at the store after a mating.
The mating heat was getting better, and they usually only had to mate once daily. If either of them were stressed, then it might be more. At night it seemed they couldn’t get enough of each other.
They pulled up beside the house they were staying in at the moment.
“Oh, my. I can’t believe our house is about done,” Nicole said when she looked over to the construction site.
Hunter turned off the car. “Do you want to go take a look?”
She smiled brightly. “Yes.”
He grabbed her hand after he pulled her from the car.
