“I’ll tell them. Thank you.”

“You owe me,” Jory said and snickered when he groaned.

He knew she’d torture him for a while before she asked for anything because she knew it would drive him crazy.

“You’ve got a mean streak in you, woman.”

Jory laughed. “I sure do, and don’t you forget it.”

He stepped out of her shop and took in a deep breath as his whole body calmed. It was a relief because he’d be able to have his eyes on his mate all the time. Now, they just had to pray the women never found out.

Chapter Fifteen

The bell rang when Hunter walked out of the bakery. She felt something was different about her mate but couldn’t figure out what it was.

Simone wrapped an arm around her waist. “What’s up?”

“Have you noticed a change in Blake?”

“Like what?”

“I don’t know. Hunter just seems different.”

“How?” Simone asked.

“He’s calmer.”

“What’s going on?” Brenna asked.

“We’re wondering why my mate is calmer,” Nicole said.

“Really? Roman has mellowed, too,” Brenna said. “I thought one of our talks finally got through to him.”

Nicole looked at Simone. “Have you noticed anything different about Blake?’

“No, not really, but I haven’t been kidnapped or pregnant.”

“Keep your eyes out and pay attention. We’ll call a meeting on Friday to see what we think. It could just be me being paranoid or something,” Nicole said.

“We’ll watch,” Simone said.

Nicole nodded and got back to work.

The next few days passed, and the feeling that she thought something was going on with the men solidified, and the other two women were seeing it more with their guys, too.

They sat down with some tea after they locked the doors.

“Okay, girls. How do we figure out what’s going on?” Nicole asked.

“Let’s ask what would make them feel they didn’t have to worry about us because they knew we were safe?” Brenna asked. “Safe how?”

“Knowing we had someone here to protect us?” Simone said.

Nicole nodded.

“Or someone to watch over us?” Brenna said.

Nicole froze as a thought popped into her head. “How could they have someone here to look over us if no one was physically here?”
