I laugh, feeling so happy for her, and I can't help feeling sad. Gwen had left behind her dream to follow me to become a reporter. That delayed her career.

Seeing my tears, she pauses, "Oh, Jen. What's wrong?"

I smile, knowing I look weird, "Nothing. I'm so happy you finally get to do what you've always wanted."

Gwen laughs, hugging me when Ryan comes in, "Everything okay in here?"

I smile, "Ryan, Gwen is finally going to be a designer."

Ryan nods as he leans against the door, "I know."

"You know, and you didn't tell me?"

He shrugs, "She wanted to tell you herself."

Gwen nods, "I couldn't have Ryan getting a hug on my behalf."

Ryan scoffs as I laugh, "Anyway, we should have a party to celebrate."

Gwen smiles, "That's why I also came today. I booked an appointment at La Belle Vie for tonight. Let's get dressed up and go."

I'm all up for it when Ryan coughs, getting our attention. Gwen scowls at him, "What?"

Ryan smirks, "Jen and I already have an appointment somewhere tonight."

Gwen shrugs, "So?"

And I can't help but follow suit, "Ryan, can we please schedule our date for another day? I haven't seen Gwen for a while now. And I hear someone warned her to reduce her visits."

Ryan looks awkward and finally gives up, "Fine. So we will be going to La Belle Vie?"

Gwen looks at him with a raised eyebrow, "We? Who said you were going?"

Ryan tries to smile, his jaw tensing again, "You're going to take Jen without me?"

Gwen nods, "It's just a girl's night out, so I'll take her without Cale and you."

Ryan scoffs, "Absolutely not."

Gwen sneers, "You can't force her, Ryan."

I look at Gwen, "Actually, Gwen, I don't know if I can go without Cale."

Gwen smiles, "Oh, Jen. Don't worry. I have already arranged for a babysitter."

But I still can't help getting worried, "I don't want to leave him to a babysitter."

Gwen winks, "Don't worry. Ryan will babysit for us, won't you, Ryan?"

Then she looks towards Ryan, daring him to decline, "Also, don't you think she should be able to enjoy a night off? She has been through a lot, after all."

I also want to go, so I look at Ryan as his eyes meet mine, and he sighs defeatedly. "Fine, but get her back by midnight."

Gwen rolls her eyes, "Alright, Dad."

Turning to me, she squeals, "Let's go."

I look at Ryan, mouthing a 'Thank you.'
