Then we can only take her to the hospital ourselves, "Alright. Then we get her to the nearest hospital ourselves for now. Gray finds out the nearest hospital in the vicinity and gets the car to the front. Gwen packs some clothes for Jen and also gets her laptop. Secure it so it doesn't get wet in the rain."

Gray nods, about to move, when Gwen notices, "Wasn't Jen wearing your hoodie before? How did her clothes change? Did you change them?"

Gray turns instantly, his stupid face brightening, "Whoa, boss, dude. You don't even let a chance like this go. What a dog…."

Gwen and I stare at the guy, "What's up with you?"

"Go do your work, Henderson."

Gray raises his hands in mock surrender as he leaves when Gwen glares murder at me, "Okay—Fess up, Ryan. There has been something going on between you two for a while now. I didn't say anything because I thought it could be good, but after Jen has gotten to such a sorry state, I won't let go, so tell me, what's going on?"

Gwen goes all out for her best friend. That is incredible, but how do I tell my sister I got off with her beloved best friend? I can't help but swallow, "Look. Now isn't the time, Gwen. We need to move. I swear, as soon as we get free from this situation, I'll tell you."

Gwen seems anxious, "But by then, it may be too late."

Looking back at her thoughtfully, I say, "And if we mess around talking like this right now, we may be too late."

Gwen seems expectant of the trouble, "What did you find?"

I sigh, "I found a lead for Cale, but we need to move fast, or Cale may just get transported to another continent."

Gwen seems to pause, her face twisting in concern, "Gwen, snap out of it. We need to go now."

Nodding, Gwen makes her way to her room and packs up the clothes and the laptop while I gather a blanket to wrap Jen in and get a new cooling pad for her.

I carry Jen out as Gwen follows me to the car Gray has brought in. Setting Jen down in the back seat, I will sit in the front when I notice she has a firm hold on my shirt and her soft mumble, "No."

Noticing this, Gwen almost glares my skin off as she sits in the passenger seat alongside Gray in the driver's seat, reluctantly relinquishing the back seat to me.

Sitting in the back, "Henderson, which hospital are we going to?"

Gray keeps his eyes on the road, "Chicago Memorial. It's ten minutes away."

"Did you call them?"

Gray glances in the rearview mirror, a sheepish look on his face, "I was supposed to call them?"

Gwen huffs, irritated, and I can't help glaring at the guy when Gwen picks up her cell, "Don't worry. I'll call them and have them get ready to receive us."

Arriving at the hospital, I see the hospital's director and a group of doctors and nurses standing on a waiting gurney. I get out of the car, carrying Jen over to the gurney. Some nurses and doctors come to assist, but I avoid them to get Jen to the gurney myself.

Laying her down, the director extends his hand for a greeting, "It is such an honor to meet Mr. Hale, the single heir to the Arnoult Em-"

I raise a hand to stop them, "Can we do the greetings afterward? We have a situation on our hands, and we would appreciate it if you would look over the patient."

The director stutters, "O-Of course Mr. Hale."

Turning, he has the doctors push the gurney in when Jen moans again, her hand holding on to my clothes, "No. Don't leave me alone."

I sigh, bending down to her, whispering, "Jen, I need to go get Cale. You have to let me go."

Jen trembles, "Then bring me with you."

I shake my head, "You know I can't do that, Jen. You're too weak right now. You need to get healthy soon so that when Cale comes, he doesn't get upset seeing his mother so weak right?"

Jen feebly nods her head, "Okay. But come back soon?"

I smile, "I'll come back soon with Cale. Until then, Gwen's with you. She won't leave your side. She loves you too much to do that."
