“We’re pregnant?” he repeats, like he can’t believe it.

“I’ll get it confirmed at the hospital with Layla, but it says we’re pregnant… I feel it this time, Fynn, it feels… different.” We’ve had false alarms, but this time, I know it in my bones.

I hear him suck in a breath. “Fuck, Sage. That’s the best news I’ve ever heard.”

He sounds emotional, in shock, and happy, all rolled into one.

“I’m coming home,” he tells me. “I’ll be there in a half hour.”

I laugh, tears spilling down my face. “Me and Luna will be waiting.”

“I love you girls.”

“We love you too,daddy.”

He laughs, and it’s such a sweet sound. “I like the sounds of that, momma.”

“Hurry,” I tell him, letting the tears freely slow. “But don’t hurry, just drive safely.”

“I’ll be careful,” he assures me.

We hang up, and I pace around the kitchen, holding on to the stick for dear life.

I hope to God I can carry this baby to full term. If I have to rest the entire pregnancy, that’s what I’ll do.

This is our second chance and I’m taking it with both hands.

I cut back at the hospital immediately following the Roberto saga, and a few months after that, I left my beloved Massachusetts General.

The stress of the ER had been taking its toll on me for longer than I realized, and not having the workload anymore helped me to relax and be more at peace.

I moved into my dad’s practice and have been working with him for a few months now and I love it.

My parents know Fynn and I have been trying for a baby for a while, and my dad isn’t planning on retiring any time soon. One day, after the baby is born, I will work part-time as a consulting GP.

I don’t know that I would ever go back to hospital life, but I won’t rule it out.

I need to call my mom next, as she’s going to be over the moon… Dad will still be at work.

They accepted Fynn with open arms when we told them we were back together after all this time. Of course, we’ve shielded them from most of the drama that surrounds the Medicis, but you can’t always hide what they play on the nightly news.

My parents have always been very understanding, and they respect Fynn and also Angelo, even though he’s the mafia boss. They can see what this city has become under Angelo’s reign and how fiercely they protect me, and that’s good enough for them.

When I hear Fynn’s car in the driveway, I smile and hold Luna close to me.

“It’s going to be all right this time, Luna. I just know it. Daddy’s home.”

She gives me a lick on the face, and I giggle while we wait for Fynn.

We’re going to be one big happy family, and I couldn’t be more excited about our future, or happier knowing that my life is going to be with Fynn. Forever.

FYNN

SIX MONTHS AFTER THAT

The day Sage called me to tell me she was pregnant was the day my life got made. The day we found out we were having twins… that was a whole new shock thrown into the mix. Needless to say, we were both thrilled.
