His tongue slides over mine and I reach out to grab hold of his shirt. His kiss, now and always, manages to make me a little breathless. He’s mastered the slow kiss, the one that has my mind racing and my chest growing tight. The kiss that consumes me and promises so much more. But the hot, I’ve missed you and always want you kiss, I agree with Julian, my panties melt.

“Missed you,” he whispers against my lips, practically taking the words right out of my mouth.

“Yeah, me too,” I breathe out and then smile when I notice how winded I sound.

When I feel his lips leave mine, I pout and he chuckles, dragging his thumb over my lower lip. “Give it a couple hours and then you and I will get out of here and pick this back up.”

Oh yes, please.

I nod, biting my lip to keep from shouting out, right now.

“Got a game waiting,” he nods in the direction of the guys. “Are you good with your drink?”

I glance toward my glass, reminded that it's there. I hadn’t even taken a drink yet. “Yeah, I’m okay.”

He presses one last quick peck to my lips before moving away and going with the guys.

“Jesus girl,” Julian says, fanning his face with a smile. “I thought Colton was all, woman you are mine, but wow.”

“What?”

“Just never seen Garrett act that way.”

“Unless he was trying to torment Colton by paying attention to Gretchen.”

“What?” I ask looking at her to find her smiling.

“Garrett loves to piss off Colton, so it was easy to do when he’d use me as ammunition.”

I still didn’t get it, but they’d moved on to something else and I glanced over to the guys. Watching Garrett move around the table, seeing him relaxed and carefree. Every once a while he would look over at me and smile, and that smile would give me the crazy fluttering feeling in my stomach.

“I must say I’m happy to finally see the two of you together,” I look away from Garrett to find Grace leaning in closer. “He’s spent years waiting for the right time, watching you, quietly admiring. Now to see how he is with you reminds me a lot of how Terrance is with me. It’s great to see him so happy.”

“He’s amazing,” I couldn’t find the right words. I was head over heels for him, wanting to be with him all the time, and content when I was. He makes me smile and laugh, and he makes me feel a safety that I’ve never experienced before. Sure I feel safe with Gran, and she gave me a life that without her I would have never had. But Garrett, somehow, I feel like the ground beneath me has finally stopped swaying.

It’s hard to explain but what I do know is how I feel when I am with him, is something I never want to lose.

“Let’s dance ladies,” Gretchen jumps up and starts to drag us all away from the table,

“I’ll watch the drinks,” Julian offers as we all walk off toward the dance floor. One by one we move through the crowd and find a space big enough for all of us.

The music is loud, but the song list is perfect.

I had barely had a sip of my drink, but I was feeling drunk still from Garrett’s kiss.

When the song ends Grace and Maddison make their way back to the table and Gretchen and I remain where we are.

I can see Garrett through the bodies of people. He is continuously looking over at me, as if to make sure I am still safe.

It is adorable.

A slow song comes on and Gretchen grabs my hand. “Let’s get our guys.” She doesn’t allow me to protest as she tugs me along toward the pool tables.

Releasing my hand, she falls into Colton’s arms, and they start to sway right there next to us.

“Wanna dance?” I ask Garrett, stepping in close to him and laying one hand on the center of his chest. Immediately he lifts his and places it over mine.

“I don’t dance,” his lips tip up in a smirk and I can’t tell if he is teasing me or being serious.
