“I love you,” she chants, her head falling back. “I love you, I love you.”
It’s grounding, claiming her body and hearing her say those words. I slow down and she shakes her head.
“Don’t stop,” she says. “Please. Harder.”
“I love you,” I tell her, fucking her so hard I can’t think straight.
She gasps and comes so hard I wouldn’t be able to hold back if I tried. I unload into her, and she squeezes everything out of me, the feeling so euphoric I think I might pass out.
I kiss her then and it grounds me even more.
“Was I too rough?” I ask, moving the towel that’s barely hanging on her head out of the way.
“You were perfect,” she whispers, her hands moving to my face. “It was exactly what I needed.” She studies me, and I lean my forehead against hers until she pulls me back to look at me. “I’m here to stay.” Her voice is firmer now. “And I’ll understand if you doubt me from time to time, but just talk to me. We’ll work through it together. Okay?”
“Okay. I will, I promise.”
“I’m going to tell my aunts tomorrow…and I’m okay if your family knows everything too. I don’t want any of them to doubt how much I love you. And to know that I’m here for keeps.”
“I’ll tell them.”
My phone has gone crazy all day. I did let Sutton know she was coming home, but he’d already opened his big mouth with the family. Gotta love them for how much they care.
She smiles, and I kiss her before shifting next to her.
“I’m so glad you’re home.” I lean on my elbow, tracing her skin with my fingertips as her eyelids get heavy.
“Me too,” she whispers.
Soon her eyes shut and stay closed, and protectiveness floods through me. I almost let myself derail the second she was out of sight.
Never again. I’m not going to be the one to let her down. She’s done nothing but love me.
My phone buzzes. I think it’s in the jeans that are lying on the floor, and I get up to find out, making sure Sofie is still asleep. She isout. I smile at the sight of her wet hair splayed across the pillows with nothing but the moon and now my phone lighting up the room.
It buzzes before I get to it. And again. I hurry to pick it up and click the sound off, just in time too because they start coming in steadily.
Grinny
Did Sofie make it home safe and sound?
I glance at the time, surprised that it’s only 9:20. It feels like the middle of the night.
Scarlett
Why did she leave without telling you?
Sutton:
I never said she didn’t tell him. He just didn’t know where she was right away. Right, Theo? Is she home yet?
Wyatt
This is giving me all kinds of red flags. I love that girl, we all do, but she can’t just go off out of the blue and not expect us to all jump to the worst conclusion.
Callum
I’ll be over there in five.
