Page 38 of Say I Do

“I can call him down he—”

I waved off the ridiculous thought. “No need.” I glanced over the selection of liquor they had and ordered a drink.

“About earlier tonight, sorry,” Tex said, shouting just enough for me to hear over the thrumming music.

I shrugged. Them accepting me wasn’t important. If I spent my entire life hoping to be treated as more than the bastard, I’d live a miserable life.

“All good.” I took a sip of my drink and groaned. “You’re pretty good at this.”

Tex smiled. It was genuine as if he took pride in his work. I could respect that. I pulled a few dollars, but Tex shook his head.

“You’re technically married to the boss.”

“Technically?”

Tex shrugged. “To the rest of the world, you’re engaged.”

I laughed. “Right.” I lifted my drink and moved away from the bar.Now what to do?One glance up at the VIP section, and I knew where I was headed. Two bouncers were guarding the stairs that led up to where Benito was.

I caught Riku and Nobu’s gaze and jerked my head. They followed the direction I indicated and moved in unison. The moment they distracted the guards at the bottom of the stairs, I slipped closer. The third one at the top of the stairs came hustling down to help. I slipped up the stairs making my way to the VIP section.

No one else was up there but Benito and the women on his arms. Each step I took felt like I was walking through quicksand. I knew he’d eventually sleep around behind my back but knowing and seeing were two different things. We didn’t have anything to do with each other. Our marriage was on paper only, and still, I wanted to kill both the women near him.

Benito lifted the drink to his mouth. As if drawn by my presence, his gaze snapped up and landed on me.

“Harlow?” Benito's voice resonated through me, feeding the anger that boiled in the pit of my stomach. “What are you doing here?” He placed the drink down but didn’t untangle himself from the women near him.

Fuck, this is pissing me off.I couldn’t even understand why. I just knew if given a chance, I’d stab Benito right now.

“Who’s your friend?” one of the women asked. She leaned close, her mouth practically touching Benito’s throat. “He’s pretty.” Her long auburn hair brushed over Benito’s thigh as she got even closer to him.

“You should let him join us,” the other woman said. She had deep brown skin and big brown doe eyes. She was close to Benito, but unlike the ginger on his right, she wasn’t draped all over him.

One look from me, and she moved away from Benito. It did little to ease the turmoil inside of me. Not when the other woman was fawning over Benito, and he was practically all over her. His hand draped around her waist.

As if he knew I was watching, he squeezed her ass. “Nah, don’t worry about him. He was leaving.”

The redhead giggled. Her hand traveled down his torso and rested on his crotch. She groped his cock through his clothes. I lost it.

The cup shattered in my hand. Cold alcohol dripped down my forearms and soaked into the sleeve of my suit jacket. I was over the small table and on Benito’s lap before any of them knew what was happening. I grabbed the redhead and pressed the jagged end of the glass against her throat.

Benito moved but stopped short of reaching for me. It was as if we could communicate with a look alone. One misstep, and I’d kill her. It would land us in hot water, but we both knew I was crazy enough not to give a fuck.

“Oh my god,” the other woman gasped. She fell off the couch and scrambled back.

“Harlow, what the hell do you think you’re doing?” Benito asked through clenched teeth. He balled his fingers into a fist, and for a short second, I imagined them wrapped around my throat.

What was I doing? Fuck, if I knew.

If glares could kill, I’d be ten feet in the ground, my body parts scattered all over the globe.

“Kiss me.”

Benito growled. “Have you lost your mind?”

I smirked at him. “You want to call my bluff, baby?”

The woman whimpered and tried to pull away. The glass nicked her delicate flesh. A scream broke free just as the music grew louder, drowning out the sound. I had one of her arms pinned under my leg, making it even harder for her to escape my hold.
