Whatever you want, lady. Just leave. I nodded instead of voicing my true feelings. I was over the wedding talk.
Gabriela opened her mouth, and I dreaded it. She was going to be there all fucking night. I’d brought her over to torture Benito, but that plan had backfired quickly.
Benito yanked me, and I fell against his chest. He pushed his fingers through my hair and pressed his lips against my head. I was forced to breathe in the dark notes of Benito’s cologne. I’d almost forgotten how good he smelled. My toes curled, and I pressed a little closer. My nose brushed along the column of his throat. All I could hear was the sound of my own heart racing as I took in shallow breaths of Benito.
Just under the smell of his cologne was an almost sweet scent. It made my mouth salivate, and the desire to press closer ate my insides.
What if I taste just a little? Who could blame me?
I dragged my tongue over Benito’s pulse point, feeling the way his heart beat steadily. He yanked me back, and I nearly whimpered. This is not happening.
“We’ll leave you two to it,” Gabriela chuckled. “To be young and in love.” She stared at us wistfully before turning and leading the group of randoms out.
The moment everyone was gone, I breathed a little easier. I took a few healthy steps away from Benito before I did something even more stupid than licking him. He closed and locked the door.
Benito glanced over his shoulder, pinning me in place. The reactions he pulled out of me pissed me off.
“You’re out of my bed.”
Fair is fair. I blew out a breath. “Fine.”
“Take your things ou—”
I lifted my hand, halting any other request he had. “We said one favor.” I headed for our bedroom, more than ready for a shower. I’d spent hours staring at wedding shit I could give a rat’s ass about.
“Where are you going?” Benito growled.
A shiver raced down my spine. I went into our bedroom because, yeah, I wasn’t giving it up. He could have the bed for tonight, but come tomorrow, I’d be back in it. I was a fair man, but after all, he didn’t give me a specific time I had tostayout of his bed.
I grabbed the pillows from my side and tossed them to the floor.
“What are you doing?”
“What’s with the sudden interest?” I made a pallet on the floor next to the bed. “Be careful, Benito. I might start thinking you like me.”
“Don’t flatter yourself.” Benito stepped toward me. “We had a deal.”
“We did. You have the bed tonight.”
His brows dipped as he got closer. Every inch that disappeared between us felt like a year was taken off my life. He was either going to kill me or…
Fuck.My heart pounded rapidly against my ribcage at the murderous look in Benito’s molten brown eyes.
“Harlow.”
I moaned. “Yeah, call my name, baby.”
Benito’s hand was around my throat, and it was quickly becoming a familiar weight. I smiled up at him as we crashed into the bed.
“Does it count if you put me in the bed?”
Benito leaned in close, his breath fanned against my ear, sending tendrils of desire racing through my veins. My mouth went dry as I tried to regain the knowledge of how to breathe properly.
“One day you’re going to push me too far, and I’ll break your pretty little neck.” Benito squeezed my throat before letting it go and backed up.
An involuntary shiver racked through me. “Noted.” I touched my throat, licking my lips. “You think my neck’s pretty? What else do you like about me, husband?”
Benito stared at me like I’d grown a second head. A smile curled my lips, the first one I’d felt all day that was real. It looked like I’d win the war between us after all.
