“And disgusting.”
I let them argue the merits of if my baby was cute or gross while I tested her bottle on my wrist. When it was perfect, I popped it into Emi’s mouth. She settled down right away. As she stared up at me, my heart melted the same way it did for Harlow. For the second time, I was in love. Real love.I never want this feeling to go away.
“You can give her here,” Harlow said as he came out freshly showered and dressed in shorts and a t-shirt.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah,” Harlow cooed at her softly, and my heart skipped a beat. “What?” he asked when he looked at me.
“Nothing.”
“Don’t be gay about it,” he said as he narrowed his eyes at me.
I chuckled. “I won’t.”
“This is bullshit,” Gin snapped.
I raised a brow at him. “What is?”
“You get engaged after I do. You get married before I do, twice! You have a baby. I want a baby!” He pouted as he turned to Ash and wrapped his arms around him. “Put a baby in me.”
Ash rolled his eyes. “I’ve told you a hundred times that’s not possible for us.”
“You don’t try hard enough!” he wailed.
“Shut. Up,” Enzo said before he turned to me. “She is sufficiently cute. Even if she is still gross.” He searched my face. “I’m glad you’re happy.”
“I am,” I confirmed. “More than I ever thought I would be.”
“Gay,” Gin called.
I whipped a kitchen towel at him. “One more time, and Harlow won’t have to stab you. I will.”
“You wouldn’t do that, right, Harlow?” Ash asked, his eyes wide and filled with concern.
Harlow glared at me. “Of course not! Benito’s nuts.”
I stared, my mouth half open.Shit, when did those two become friends?I was distracted as my phone buzzed in my pocket. Fishing it out, I stared at the screen and swore.
“My meeting is happening, baby. I gotta go.”
“Fine,” Harlow said. “Be careful.”
“Qualsiasi cosa per te.” I kissed the side of his neck. “Be back soon.”
“We’ll keep him company,” Tex said as he sat down. “You good with that, Harlow?”
He glanced around at them all. Finally, he shrugged. “Sure.”
I saw the little smile that tugged on his lips before it was gone again. Harlow worked so hard to hide when he was happy. Maybe one day he’d show it not only to me but to everyone. I could see the smile that tried to stay on his lips. He cared about our crazy ass family, even if he had a hard time showing it. They still needed to get closer, but he was trying. What more could I ask for?
“Get out already,” Harlow said, snapping me from my daydreams. “And hurry back. If she starts shitting all over the place, I’m putting your brothers on diaper duty.”
“Disgusting,” Enzo shivered.
“Make Ash do it,” Gin said as he sat in his chair, phone in his hand as he balanced on the legs. “I’m trying to find a baby on the black market.”
Harlow looked at me with a barely concealed plea for help. I grinned.
