Page 123 of Say I Do

I moved quickly, my movements not as fluid, with the alcohol slowing me down. My fingers curled in Tex’s shirt, popping buttons on his blue button-up. I yanked him down until we were at eye level.

“Pour the fucking shot.”

Tex grunted and stared at me. His eyes were slightly wide; he probably hadn’t expected me to be so strong. He was a big mother fucker, but I was pissed off. That was enough to fuel my strength.

“I don’t think you need anymore.”

I gritted my teeth as I met his blue eyes. “I don’t give a fuck what you think.”

Tex grunted. “Let me go. People are starting to look over here.”

I reluctantly did so. If I caused a scene, Benito would come, and he was the last person I wanted to see right now. I sat back on the stool and rested my head on my hand. “Shot.” I pushed the glass over toward Tex.

He shook his head and poured another one. “Any reason you’re here?”

“None that are important." I swallowed down the liquor and blew out a slow breath as the burn took over. My eyelids dropped as I tried to float in the numb feeling that overtook me for a moment.

“Let me guess; your Vitale brother is an asshole, and he’s done something stupid.” Tex leaned on the bar, his muscles taking up space.

I opened my eyes and shrugged.

“Mind if I guess?”

It looked like he was going to regardless of what I said.

“He set up cameras in the house to watch you?”

“That’s hot.”

Tex opened his mouth and then closed it. “I, um, okay. He came home covered in blood?” I cocked a brow up at Tex, and he waved his hands. “Sorry, you probably think that’s hot. Right.”

“I’d be upset that I missed out on the fun, but a good fuck after killing is the best.”

Tex’s eyes went wide. “That means...” He groaned. “I don’t want to know these things.”

“What? Enzo came home one night and fucked you so good you saw the universe, and now you’re wondering if he killed someone right before touching you?”

Tex went visibly pale. “I… fuck. I hope not.”

“You’re with a made man, and you don’t think that will ever happen?”

“I mean, I know it will.” He glanced around us nervously.

“No one is listening. They are staying clear of me,” I said.

Tex grunted. “Yeah, kind of hard not to. Some chick said you cut her for touching Benito.”

“I would have killed her if I hadn’t been occupied.”

“Fuck, what is wrong with all of you?”

I shook my head. “What’s wrong with you?”

Tex looked perplexed by my question.

“You’re a normal person dating someone you know doesn’t have clean hands. And yet you look at me like I’m insane because I relish in the fact Benito’s hands are just as bloody as my own.”

Tex blew out a breath. “I... I used to be a... well, fuck.”
