“Do you have a family, Danny?”

Another nod.

“Oh, good. Then you know how this works, right? You play along, or we visit them.”

A visible shiver ran over his body. Daniel nodded harder than ever this time, and I took it as he would cooperate. We entered Blu and headed down to the basement. I switched the light on and steered Dan to a chair.

“There’s duct tape in one of those cabinets,” I said as I shoved him down when he tried to get up. “Grab them for me?”

“Since you asked so nicely,” Harlow purred.

He went in search of duct tape while I yanked the gag from Daniel’s mouth. Coughing, he looked up at me with a mix of fear and something bordering on stupidity. Or bravery, if that was what you wanted to call it. I shook my finger at him.

“Don’t do it. The door locks automatically when you step inside this room. Unless you have the password, there’s no getting out either.” I grabbed a chair and pulled it up as Harlow started taping his legs. “What were you going to do with that photo?”

“Nothing.”

I jammed my dress shoe between his trembling thighs and crushed his balls. My foot stayed pinned there as he screamed and thrashed. I tilted my head.

Pulling out my phone, I scrolled through it. “You’re wasting my time. I have meetings to set up, paperwork to complete, and brothers who probably need my help with something as we speak.”

I twisted my foot, and he cried out, his hand gripping the expensive Italian leather. I stared at him. Slowly, his fingers released my shoe with some effort.

“Let’s try that again,” I said. “What were you going to do with that photo?”

Harlow secured Daniel’s wrists behind his back tightly. I watched as he ripped off a length with his teeth, all of his concentration on securing our prisoner.Fuck, I shouldn’t find that hot.The truth was that I had started to find everything he did appealing in some shape or another. He’d handled himself well in the store, taking care of the clerk so I could get us out of there. Not a complaint, not one disobedient action, just smoothness as he slipped into his yakuza persona. The same way I slipped into mine out of the eye of the public. I could appreciate a man who knew his job and did it well.

“I— It’s for a story,” Daniel said as he swallowed thickly.

“What’s the story about Danny?” Harlow asked. He’d finished securing the man to the chair, and now he leaned his elbow onto Daniel’s shoulder, his chin in the palm of his hand.

A jolt shot through me. “Step back, Harlow.”

“I want to hear what he has to say for himself,” Harlow said. “What was this wonderful story about, hmm?” he asked as his fingers trailed over the man’s racing pulse point in his neck.

I stood up and yanked Harlow against me. Sitting down, I plopped him onto my lap and secured him in my arms. Harlow glanced back at me, one of his brows raised in surprise.

“What was that about?”

“I told you to step back,” I growled. “Don’t get too close and overly familiar.” My hand gripped his thigh tightly. “I don’t give a fuck if it’s someone out there in the real world or in this basement. Keep your hands to yourself.”

Harlow’s lips parted before they came together, and realization dawned on his face. “Oh,” he chuckled. “Someone is jealous.” He wriggled on my lap. “It’s just a bit of fun, husband.”

“I’m aware of that.” My nails dug into his thigh, and he bit out a moan. “However, I said what I said.”

The whimper that fell from his lips was enough to rile me up again. My cock pressed against Harlow’s ass. He ground against it eagerly. I knew he was as bad off as I was.

Focus.

I finally turned my attention back to Daniel. “What was the story about?”

“Just some stupid tip,” he muttered as his eyes darted between me and Harlow. “Someone called and said the Vitales weren’t as clean as they pretended to be. I followed up on it. That’s my job,” he said as if I gave a damn.

“Who gave you the tip?”

“I don’t know.”

“Where’s your phone? Do you have a number?” I asked.
