“Not a chance, sweetheart.” I smiled at her, but I wasn’t all that great with people. Normally when I was doing something like this that needed fewer eyes, Quincy had my back. He was great at distracting people. “Going to need you to turn around and go up front.”
“You can’t be in there,” she said. Her gaze continued to try and peer past me.
How mad would Benito be if I grabbed and killed her? One less witness, but it would have others coming to check on her.
“Stay right there.” I closed the door to her shocked face. I ran over to Benito and pulled his wallet free. He had his phone pressed to his ear.
“Bring the car around back.”
“Oh, good, you’re on this,” I said. “Then I’m going to go handle this upfront.”
Benito nodded, but before I could step away, he dragged me right back. Our lips met in a kiss that had me clinging to him.
“Don’t do anything without me,” I whispered.
He grinned. “Fine, mostricio.” He kicked the guy on the ground, making him whimper.
“Spending a few thousand.”
Benito waved me off, and I couldn’t help the smile on my face. I opened the door, and the girl looked ready to burst into tears. “How about I make your day? You earn commission, right?”
“Umm, yes.” She glanced at the door and then at the black card in my hand.
“Good. You have five minutes to ring up any and everything you can get your hands on. I already have a few items picked out. Oh, and the rings, we’re getting them.”
Her eyes widened. She instantly turned on her heels, forgetting everything in the face of dollar signs.
Generally,I kept my legit businesses apart from the family business, but that wasn’t always possible. Like right now. We needed a dark, secluded, quiet space quickly. All I needed was for someone to hear the man in the trunk screaming and kicking. There hadn’t been anything to tie him up with in the car, so Tony and I had simply tossed him inside. It would be a bitch getting him out.
“Can you take over looking after Blu tonight?” I asked Enzo over the phone. “I would ask Gin, but—”
“That would be stupid,” he said without hesitation. “He somehow still turns everything into an orgy, but now he just leaves as soon as it starts. What is his problem?”
“He’s a middle child,” I laughed as the tension tried to ease in my chest. However, my fist stayed clenched, letting me know it would not be going anywhere anytime soon. “They’re always screwed up. Be careful and keep your eyes open. I have something to take care of.”
“Anything you need help with?”
I glanced over at Harlow. Classical music played so loudly in the car it was almost impossible to hear over it, yet he looked at home, leaning against the seat as he smiled and stared out the window. My pulse tripled. Who knew I was such a sucker for a goddamn smile?
“Benito?”
“No, I have Harlow with me. I’m okay,” I said shortly.
Harlow glanced over at me before he quickly averted his gaze again. It felt as if all of today had been something new, awkward, and strange. I hadn’t given a damn about anyone outside of the family in what felt like decades. Now? I couldn’t get enough of the man who was determined to either kill me or fuck me into a coma.
“What?” Harlow asked as I continued to stare.
“Nothing,” I said. I bounced my knee up and down rapidly. I picked up the camera between us. “I don’t even want to know how much he captured.”
“Too much,” Harlow said shortly.
“Yeah,” I rubbed the stubble on my chin. “It would look bad for us if that were spread around.”
Harlow looked at me with a strange expression. He opened his mouth and shut it once more. As he glanced back toward the window and shrugged, my stomach knotted.
Why do I feel like I just said something wrong?
I closed my mouth and turned on the camera. The picture the reporter had captured was pristine. I was fingering Harlow, a look of pure bliss on his face as I stared at him in astonishment. Harlow’s cock, covered in white cum was clear as day.
