Pamela’s expression contorted in disapproval. “Mason, really, can you try to have more decorum?”
“Can’t promise, Ma.”
She sniffed. “I really don’t know what I’m going to do with you.”
“Bit late for that, Mom,” Kiana said. “At twenty-seven, I think your opportunity to teach your sons etiquette has long gone.”
“Hey,” Louis said, whacking his brother on the arm. “Don’t put me in the same bracket as him.”
Kiana huffed. “It’s going to be a long night.”

Kiana
Why does the past always come back to
bite you on the ass? (Part 2)
“Night, Mom. Night, Dad. Love you.”I hugged both my parents, then fist-bumped my brothers. “You guys, not so much.”
“Liar,” Mason said.
Ash shook everyone’s hand and gave Mom a kiss on the cheek. I had to hand it to the guy. He’d held his own with my crazy-ass family. More than that, he’d charmed my mom, talked football with Dad, and promised to take Mason and Louis out on a yacht that I’d just found out tonight he owned.
The only blot on the whole evening had been the bombshell casually dropped in that he was having Forster followed. Or that was what it’d sounded like to me. As soon as we were alone, I planned to find out.
I climbed into the car and wound down the window.
“Stop by before you leave if you can,” Mom said. “Just to say goodbye.”
“We will.”
I waved out the back window until my family disappeared from view, then flopped back in my seat. Ash eyed me warily, running his finger around the collar of his shirt.
“Am I in trouble?”
“Yep.” I stressed thep.
“Does that mean I don’t get to fuck your tits tonight?”
With difficulty, I curbed a smile. “That depends.”
“On what?”
“On your full and frank confession. What gives with Forster?”
I rubbed my lips together. “I hired a private detective firm to watch him. That’s all.”
“That’s all?”
“It’s not a big deal.”
“It is to me.”
“Why?”
“Because.”
