I dropped my phone on the bed and groaned. “It’s done, puppies,” I whispered. We were headed to Wisconsin, but there was one thing I needed to do before we left.

Chapter Fifteen
Snapper
“Are you kicking usout?”
I shook my head and pulled the full garbage back out of the can. “No, of course not. The clubhouse is for everyone.”
Meg grabbed the bag of trash and tied it up. “Then why are you herding us out of here?”
“Uh, well, I just figure you and King are more comfortable at your house. It’s home.”
Meg tipped her head to the side. “That’s your house, too.”
It had been when I was growing up, but now the clubhouse was my home. At least, it was until I found my own place. That didn’t make much sense right now when it was only myself I needed to worry about. “Well, I guess it is, but I’m good here. I like being the only one here.”
“You never know who is going to show up,” Meg warned.
I shrugged and reached under the sink for a new trash bag. “I can always lock the door. I mean, I do it at night anyway. What’s the big deal if I lock it during the day?”
“Stop,” Meg scolded. “If you lock that door during the day, you know that will be when all the guys come over.”
I dropped the new bag into the can and washed my hands.
