I asked myself that question a couple of weeks ago when I realized that I watched him more than I should. And the answer was a straight up no. I didn't think about it twice.

But as I watched him talk to Melissa, I couldn't give a definite no on this thought anymore. As a matter of fact, I wanted him to ask me out. How long has it been since I have gone on a proper date with a man? A man that actually thinks more with their brain than what was hanging in between their legs, it’s been a while.

My eyes slid to his legs. They were strong and thick and firm. He had the kind of body that you know was earned through hard work. But staring at his black clad legs, I couldn't help but wonder what he looked like down there.

"Goodness gracious, Kat. Get your mind out of the gutter!" I scolded myself.

CHAPTER5

KAT

Ipressed the doorbell to Lily's house. She invited me over because they recently moved to a new house and I haven't seen her for about 3 weeks, so I decided to show up.

Although, most of the reason involved her just threatening me to come over but I was trying to avoid her father as much as possible. The thought that I might run into him when I came over gave me knots in my stomach, but she promised me that he wasn't going to be around. She opened the door with a wide grin on her face.

"Kat, you came," she gushed.

"Of course I did. Why wouldn't I? When you basically guilt-tripped me into coming."

"That, I did," she laughed, stepping aside for me to come in.

I handed her the wine and mini cake that I brought with me.

"Aren't you the best?!" She hugged me.

I followed her into the kitchen where she placed the cake on the counter as well as the wine.

"So how’d it go with Brody?" I asked.

"Let's just say that I embarrassed myself beyond repair." She covered her face.

"I told you when you were making that plan that it was not going to end well." I stood by the counter.

"It was foolproof. I've seen it done in movies a lot. I thought that it would go smoothly."

"Yeah, sure, take your references from movies." I rolled my eyes, sitting on the stool by the counter.

"I was about to make lunch. Do you want some?"

"What do you have?"

"Just stir fry pasta. That's all."

"Fine, I will have some. But don't try to change the topic away from how you embarrassed yourself with your crush."

"And I'm supposed to go to work and see him. That is the issue that I'm having. I wish I could quit my job, but my dad would wring my neck."

"That is because he stuck his neck out to get you that job," I replied.

"Why didn't you talk me out of it?" She eyed me.

"When I said the words 'pretending to pass out in front of him was a bad idea' what did you think I was trying to do? Talk you into it?"

"Kat," she drew out, stomping her leg like a child. It was cute. "My life is already miserable as it is. I can't look at him."

"You know, you are yet to give me the full details about the whole thing."

She brings out a pot. "Trust me, you don't want to know."
