"Are you prepared to go?"

My eyes widened, unaware of the thought I was to go too.

"I have to go with you?"

"That was pretty much obvious. I believed that Penny would have carried you along with all of that. She always goes with me on my trips."

"I was not aware. I did not know that you would need me on the trip."

"You are my personal assistant. That is implied. You can note it down that you follow me on every trip, unless I ask you not to."

"Noted, sir," I replied.

"You can reach out to Penny. She can fill you in on what you will need to get if you are coming on the trip."

"I will do that." I picked up the document in front of him and walked back to my desk.

I fell into my chair with my head on the edge of the backrest. How was I supposed to survive going on a 3-day trip with George? It was already difficult as it was to spend a few hours at work with him. Now I had to spend the entire day with him? I didn't know if my heart would survive that.

A few minutes alone with him in his bedroom and I have not been able to stop thinking about him since then. What would I do when I was in close proximity to him all the time? I knew that I had to get over him. I can’t allow myself to fall for him further. I can’t allow myself to fall for him completely.

Lily admitted to me a couple of times that in the past, there have been people who became friends with her just because they wanted to get to her father. Some wanted to date him, some wanted his money and some wanted to sleep with him.

Some of her friends would ask her if they could get with her dad, but she shot them down. I didn’t want to be the friend who goes behind her and gets with her dad.

I didn’t want to do that to her. I didn’t want her to feel like the only reason why I ever got with her in the first place was just to be with her dad.

Speaking of Lily, I picked up my phone and dialed her number. She picked up after three rings. Whenever I needed to have a good time, Lily was the person that I went to.

"Hey, babe," she said.

"Dude, I need to go out after work today," I said to her after exchanging pleasantries.

"What happened? Rough day at work?"

"Depends on how you define rough. There has been a guy on my mind that I'm trying to get over."

"Really? Did you meet someone at work like me?"

"Don't get too excited to try and put us in the same corner today. I'm not as ridiculous as you are."

"But there is a guy, right?"

"Yes," I answered. "The only issue is that he is off limits."

"Off limits? Why? Is he dating someone? I don't see any reason why you can't just go out with him if you like him, unless he is with someone."

"I don't think he is seeing anyone. I don't think I'd like to mix business with pleasure."

"Oh, please. You sound like my dad when I pointed out that his vice president has a crush on him."

"So he knows?! You've seen it too, right? The way she is all over him like white on rice and she mimics his movements like a mirror."

"See why we are best friends?" She laughed. "He sees it. He just chooses to ignore it. My dad is more attentive than anyone gives him credit for. He doesn't talk a lot, so it gives him more room to study people."

"Don't talk about your dad right now," I stopped her. I called her to run away from my problem. I don't need her reminding me of it.

"Are you up for clubbing tonight?"
