“Liam might have suggested something along those lines to me already. I’m okay with that. I’m tired, Mama. I thought with Grandpa gone, things would be different, but they are worse. You have to take back control. It’s the only way it will stop.” He said with so much conviction I realized I had also forgotten that my own son had grown up in this world too.

“It would seem everyone has underestimated us. Thank you for reminding me. I promise I’ll keep you safe.” I hugged him and he rolled his eyes but stayed pressed to my side.

“Do you think Agatha will come with me? I like having her around. She has that real grandma vibe thing going on, you know?” He said and Kenji grinned.

“I am sure if you ask, she will be happy to stay with you.” He said and my heart swelled. Somehow in all this chaos and confusion, we had begun to form a family.

As I looked around the car at the men in my life, I realized that they were also the reason I wanted to fight, to keep them all safe. These men had given everything for me, and it was time I did the same for them.

“Weknowthisiswhere they have been operating from.” Kingston said as he pointed to the map. We had a bunch of men around us; men Kingston had hired and some that were from the Mendez family too.

“Surveillance is tight, but Kenji assures us he can cut it off. When we get the signal, you will have five minutes while it reboots. That is when the compound doors will also be unlocked.” He glanced at me, and I took over.

“This is what we are going to do. The objective is to find Nicolo. My intelligence says he hasn’t been seen in public for a while, but we have it on good authority he is still here in the compound. We go in silence and leave just as quickly. If you encounter any issues, shoot to kill. Don’t hesitate.” I said, waiting as they all nodded in agreement.

“We meet back here at 8 pm.” Everyone nodded as they split up and Aurora sighed from her seat at the table.

“Don’t worry, gorgeous. We will be fine.” I said, kissing her gently. She glared at me, still annoyed that we had all voted on her staying behind.

“Are you still mad at me?” I teased and she bared her teeth in a fake grin.

“You know this is my fight too.” I pulled her to her feet, nuzzling her hair.

“Yes. But you are the Queen. We have to protect the Queen. Besides, we don’t know what we are walking into. Trust me, you will get your moment. We won’t take that away from you.” I glanced around the room and noticed Kingston had waited for everyone to leave before he winked at me, shutting the door to give us privacy.
