Page 15 of My Three Roommates

I didn’t think this through.

After a couple of minutes, I’m almost ready to burst into the kitchen and put a stop to it all. Before I can, Kenna and Cody come back into the living room. How long were they gone? It doesn't take this long to say yes. Or no.

Cody's got his usual smirk on his face as he sits down across from me. “I never suspected that the suburbs would be so lucky for me. I expected a real damper to come down on my sex life. Instead, I’ve had more going on in the last few days here than in my last couple weeks or so in Manhattan.” He’s delighted. “So, Brad. You find me irresistible?”

I snort. I’m sure that’s not what Kenna said, but I’m not going to disagree with him. He’s hot and he knows it. I can see why he’s never settled down with anyone. He can get whatever he wants. No commitments needed.

Kenna’s waiting impatiently for me to say something. Cody’s looking nonchalant, but I can sense that he’s more than a little curious abut whether I’m really into it.

The tension between all of us stretches out. My stomach churning, I stand up and take a few steps toward him. I'm towering over his sprawled out form.

“Show me what you've got,” I say. He grins back at me, a devilish gleam in his eye.

“I’ll leave you two alone.” Kenna gives me a smile as if to remind me that she's okay with all of this.

She turns to leave when Cody sits up straight. “Where are you off to?”

Kenna frowns. “What do you mean? I’m going to give you guys some privacy.”

“Oh yeah, we’re going to get down to it. If Brad doesn’t back out. What I mean is, you and I didn’t finish our conversation. I'll give your boyfriend the time of his life. But I want you to be part of it too.”

Kenna’s shocked. “Me? Why me?”

“Because if you’re okay with sharing, then your boyfriend should be too.” A wicked glint illuminates Cody’s eyes. “I want you, Kenna. Tonight can be about all three of us. It should be.”

He’s saying all of this to Kenna as if I’m not even here. “Since when do you want Kenna?” I ask him.

Cody barely glances in my direction before his gaze goes back to her. “Always.”

“You’re kidding,” she says uncertainly. Cody hesitates for a moment before shaking his head. “Nope.”

I was starting to get annoyed at him for playing games, but now I can see he’s not. He’s acting kind of like I was, right before I confessed to Kenna that I’m into guys. Like he has a big secret he never thought he’d confess.

That’s exactly what’s happening. A few things fall into place when I think of how he acts around Kenna a lot of the time. It all makes sense now.

He is into her.

“So, what. You’re coming out as not gay?” I ask.

“Guess so,” Cody says. “I’m bi. Truth be told, I always have been.”

Cody’s facing Kenna, waiting for her response as if everything depends on it. Just like I did a couple hours before. She’s stunned, as if her whole world’s been turned upside down. I guess it has been. Cody and I are the ones who rocked it.

Suspicion flickers in her eyes as she glances between both of us. “Are you guys kidding? Is this some weird, elaborate prank you got together to pull off? If it is, it sucks.”

“No,” Cody and I say in unison. “Not at all,” I continue. “I don’t know about him.” I jerk my head towards Cody. “But everything I told you tonight was real. I’m completely serious.”

Cody shoots me a withering look. “Same,” he says. “I’m telling you the truth. So it’s all up to you, Kenna. Do you want to join us and be part of your boyfriend’s first time guy on guy? And our first night together?”

CHAPTER 10 BRAD

“WHAT WOULD I do?” Kenna asks.

“Same as us,” Cody says. “Whatever feels right.”

She glances at me as if she thinks I’m going to back out of the whole thing. I meet Kenna’s eyes without saying a word.

“What, really?” She says to me. “You wouldn’t mind?”
