She quickly clears her throat as if only realizing she’s openly staring. “Of course.”
She pulls back the blankets and when I see the robe has parted, exposing her breasts, my cock instantly hardens. Like her, I don’t look away. I want her to know if she wasn’t beaten black and blue, I would rip that robe from her body and kiss every inch of her delicious flesh.
The image alone has me almost coming in my jeans like a pubescent teen.
Luna gets up and waits for further instruction.
“I’ve found us wheels. We just need clothes.”
She nods, and trusting me completely, she follows me as I quietly open the door. We keep to the shadows, ensuring to blend in. When we pass a blue convertible with the top down, I thank the universe and snatch the brown suitcase from the front seat.
I don’t know why someone would leave their luggage out here, but I can question it later because now, I have to hope our luck will continue as I approach the Maverick. Peering around the empty parking lot to make sure the coast is clear, I try the door handle, and when it opens, I exhale in relief that I didn’t have to try and wedge my arm inside the window to pop the lock.
Luna doesn’t hesitate as she runs to the passenger side as I reach across and open her door. Once inside, I pass her the suitcase, and then, it’s the moment of truth. I flip down the visor and when a rabbit’s foot keychain falls into my lap, I can’t help but feel lucky indeed.
Slipping the key into the ignition, the engine roars to life and when a light flickers on in the room in front of us, I know it’s time to go.
The tires kick up gravel as I speed out of the motel parking lot, not looking back at the chaos we just created. Luna quickly fastens her seat belt, but her breathless exhalations hint that she’s enjoying breaking the law.
So on that note, I press my foot down onto the accelerator and speed down the empty road.
Animated laughter leaves Luna, and the sound is one that I want to hear every single day. She winds down the window, her hair kissing at her cheeks as it catches the cool early morning air. I can’t take my eyes off her as I look between her and the road.
I’m drawn to her, and when she rests her head against the chair and turns her cheek to look at me, our attraction only seems to grow. She looks so carefree and reckless in her white robe, hair loose, and wearing her war wounds with pride.
I quickly return my attention back to the road because my self-control is slipping. But I won’t touch Luna when she’s injured because when I do, I won’t hold back. It’s going to be rough, and I need her to feel it too.
When we’re far away enough, I pull the car off the road so we can check what’s inside the suitcase. Luna opens it, and although it’s just clothes and not money, as I was hoping, I’m still thankful. Luna offers me a white shirt and black pants which I accept.
When she decides on a red dress, I give her some privacy to dress and get out of the car.
The men’s clothes are a little snug, but they’ll do for now. We can at least attempt to blend in without drawing too much attention to ourselves. We do need money, however. I don’t know how we’re supposed to get that without breaking the law.
We need to keep a low profile, so we can’t be robbing any banks.
“Is everything okay?”
Turning, words get caught in my throat when I see Luna standing a few feet away. The headlights light her up like the goddess she is.
“Yes,” I finally reply. “Was just thinking about ways to get money. But don’t worry, let me take care of it.”
“I could go home?” she offers. “But I don’t think I know where that is. Maybe things will start coming back to me the farther we drive? I mean, I had to live around here, right?”
She’s right.
“It’s worth a shot. Let’s hit the road.”
We get back into the car, and when Luna yawns, I gently touch her arm. “Sleep, baby. I’m not going anywhere.”
“Promise?” she whispers, curling into a ball on the seat, her eyes slipping shut.
“With all my heart.”
We’re here, and I want to be sick.
I’ve driven down this road before, but now, I’m seeing it through different eyes because I died here. He and I are steadily becoming one person because being here, I feel everything he felt.
The confusion.
