Anna covered her mouth as a snort escaped her. “How could you not tell me that?” she playfully swatted his arm.

“It will be way more fun to let her show up and see our collections merged.”

Anna rolled her eyes at the sibling plotting. “When did you tell the movers to come back?”

“Tomorrow afternoon,” Brian said.

“What? How will we make all the decisions before then?” she gasped, looking around at the work to be done.

“We have nowhere to sit because we can’t get to anything,” he complained. “We don’t have time to waste. Besides we can put things in storage too.”

“That’s a waste of money. If it goes in storage, it will never come out.”

It wouldn’t even be on purpose, just that they would never get around to switching things out.

“Let’s start here.” He pointed at the two sofas.

“I’m not giving up my sofa.”

“Come on. Mine is bigger, and it reclines.”

“Nope.” Anna shook her head and put her hands on her hips. “I vote that we start with anything else.”

He groaned but followed her to the dining room, where they were able to easily decide that his table stayed and hers left. The rest of the rooms and furniture was just as easy with her colorful dishes replacing his plain white ones, but his expensive pots and pans stayed.

In less than an hour they were back in the living room, staring each other down in an argument over two sofas.

“It will work,” Brian huffed, moving furniture around. In his bid to keep his sofa, he had decided they would both work in here. They wouldn’t, but she appreciated the thought.

“It will be too crowded in here, and they don’t work together.” Anna leaned against the doorframe, watching him work.

“You’ll see,” he struggled.

She hid her smile behind her hand as he tried to situate the furniture but ended up stuck in a corner.

“Don’t say it,” he threatened as he climbed over the sofa.

“I didn’t say a word,” she feigned innocence.

“Okay, how about we make a deal?” Brian leaned over her, pulling her hips towards his. “We just buy a new sofa, one that has everything we both want.

“I like my sofa,” she answered.

“Come on. It’s the best way. Then neither of us wins, or maybe we both do.”

Anna pretended to think it over, knowing already that she would agree with him. “Deal.”

Brian bent down and pressed a chaste kiss to her lips. “I love you.”

“I’m going to be a challenge to shop with,” she warned.

“I’ll make Holly go with you instead.”

“She’ll spend a fortune.” She kissed him.

“I’ve got a few to spare.”

“Well, I guess that leaves only one thing left to do,” Anna grinned.
