“I think she’s heading this way,” Darren said.

Brian whipped his head to the left, catching sight of the cute brunette who was indeed heading

their way.

“I’m going to take my drink to my room,” Brian said, ready to bail.

“Stay,” Jake stopped him. “We can tell her to go away. Don’t let her ruin our night because she’s unsatisfied with her own relationship.”

He grunted but stayed seated. Jake had a point. He didn’t need to let some cheater ruin his weekend, even if he was disappointed.

“Fine,” Brian said.

Resisting the urge to look back and see how close she was to him, he gulped his drink, feeling the burn of it going down, not unlike the burn that he was going to deliver to this chick if she thought he was going to help her cheat.

Chapter three

Annawasnervous.Shedidn’t meet men in bars. Bars weren’t necessary. Her last two relationships were with men she met at work.

Relationships just happened to her. It wasn’t something she sought out or initiated. Maybe that was why they never worked out. Or if she listened to Lucy, it was just time to get back on the horse.

She’d had a few drinks and then worked up the nerve to go meet the man that was watching her. It was the same man she’d noticed in the lobby yesterday. The fact that he was watching her had to mean he was interested too.

Bold wasn’t something that she would ever use to describe herself outside of the office. In the office, she took charge and could walk up to everyone with anything.

Here, in a dress that was entirely too short that Lucy had thrust at her, she was a ball of nerves. She pulled it down again to stop it from riding up higher as she walked.

Anna took her time walking over to the group of men. The one that had been watching her had turned around and only the other two noticed her approaching.

Panic welled up inside her as she neared their table. What was she supposed to say?

“Hello, there,” one of the men greeted her.

“Hi,” she blushed and pulled her dress down again.

The man she’d sought out hadn’t turned around.

“So, did you guys do any skiing today?” she asked.

“We did all morning. You? I’m Darren, by the way,” he introduced himself.

Anna shook her head. “Not today. I went yesterday. It wore me out.”

“I could think of another way to wear you out,” Darren muttered.

Anna froze. The guy she’d come to talk to smacked Darren on the shoulder. “Shut the fuck up,” he told him

“Sorry about our friend here. He’s an ass,” the third man apologized. “Jake,” he introduced himself.

Great. She’d managed to talk to everyone except the one man she came to talk to.

“And you are?” She tried for a flirty tone that probably missed the mark. She wasn’t good at this.

He turned to face her. “Brian,” he said gruffly.

His tone was clear that he wasn’t interested. She felt her shoulders drop.

“Well, it was nice meeting you all,” she said, backing away.
