There’s another pause. “Well, that’s not for me to say, Dyl. If you want that answer, you’ll have to ask Jessie herself. But I think if you ask yourself that question, then you already know the answer.”
“Jaine. I need a favor. Will you help me?”
“Depends on what it is.”
“Is that going to be your stock answer to everything?”
She laughs out loud. “Depends on….”
“You’re hilarious.”
“I do try.”

JESSIE
Jessie’s Family Home, Colton, Nevada
“Haveyou been hanging out with Ty, Jessie?”
We’ve been talking JAA. Now that’s over, she’s changed the subject. I lie back on my bed and throw a pom pom in the air before catching it and tossing it to the side.
“Not like that, partner.”
“You been thinking about it?”
“The thought crossed my mind, but it’s way too soon.”
“You still in love with Dyl?”
“Might be.” Which she knows means yes.
“Good to know.”
“From where you’re sitting, maybe. Anyway, speaking of Ty. He suspects something’s gone down and that everything’s not what it seems.”
“About?” I can tell I’ve immediately got her attention.
“The clubhouse shooting. He says there’s no way Molly could have hit the Colombian in the middle of the forehead from where she was standing.”
There’s a pause.
“Right.”
“Anyway, he took photographic evidence of that little tidbit of information before he handled the clean-up, just in case it was ever needed. And also…”
“Go on.”
“I know it wasn’t Molly.”
Another pause.
“Really. And you know that how?”
“Because Ty also said she didn’t aim and likely pulled the trigger by accident. Apparently, there’s a bullet hole on the newly laid concrete floor right beside where she was standing. He reckons it hit the surface then ricocheted. It ties in with the fact that he found a stray bullet in the corner of the room afterward.”
“And you know for sure the bullet was from the gun Molly was holding?”
