She stared at him.
“He’s currently planning a coup to remove me from the CEO role,” Logan spat at her. “Or trying to, at least.”
Zoe stared at him for a long moment and then sat on the edge of the sofa, letting out a long breath.
“Then you probably need to hear the rest,” she said, biting her lip.
CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX
Emma spent a littleextra time blow-drying her hair after her shower tonight. Standing had been hard because of her ankle, so the effort she’d been putting into her appearance had been pretty average.
After sharing how they felt about each other—mostly—she felt like making some effort and looking nice.
Emma put a little wave in it and brushed on some light foundation, rose blusher, and lip gloss. Then she put on a pair of denim capris and a V-necked caramel sweater, which showed off the curve of her cleavage.
Logan had finally opened up and told her his story. His painful history with Zoe and the child that wasn’t his.
God, she couldn’t even imagine how painful that must have been. To plan your life and then have it ripped away in an instant.
Emma was looking forward to spending the evening together and being with him without those emotional barriers.
Where they were going next, she wasn’t sure, but when Logan had said she felt like she belonged to him, it had sent goosebumps over her skin.
Emma was falling in love with him even more now he’d told her how he felt.
She wanted to wake up and find him gazing at her, even if she was worried about morning breath and that her hair was all over the place. Emma wanted to watch him cook her dinner, feel his huge body behind her as she was making a salad.
She wanted to...do everything. Every day. With Logan.
It would mean leaving her home, friends, and family, so it was a big decision. One she was confident she would makeifLogan wanted the same thing.
Emma did want to get married one day, and he might be the one. But while he’d shared his past with her, he hadn’t said if that was something he would ever do again.
Well, he had. He’d been open about never wanting it when they’d been in NYC and the Hamptons.
Now?
