Not that it was his responsibility.

Not that he cared.

Except hedidwant to see her dressed up in something sexy. Emma was a gorgeous woman and...Okay, fine, he also fucking hated that she felt awkward. Especially when it was unnecessary and he could just pay for it.

His feet sped up when he spotted David standing outside Chanel.

Jesus, Chanel.

Logan had bought Zoe enough designer outfits to know, even a best-selling, thriving author couldn’t comfortably shop there.

But he also knew enough about women to realize he couldn’t just bowl on in there and wave his credit card around.

Logan was going to try, though.

“How long have they been in there?” Logan asked when he reached the guy.

“Forty minutes,” David replied.

Not enough time to buy anything yet.

A safe assumption.

Logan stepped into the store and glanced around at the clothing on the racks, shoes, bags, and accessories.

“Good morning, sir,” a security man dressed in a suit said in greeting.

Logan nodded at him and continued making his way into the sizable store. He heard the giggles before he saw them.

“Logan, what do you think?” Addison wore a gorgeous green dress to her mid-calves. Except she wasn’t asking about her own outfit, but the one Emma was trying on.

The look on Emma’s face killed him.

Why do I care?

He could see she loved it and was crestfallen. Her eyes looking at it longingly, like she was already saying goodbye.

“What does Emma think?” he asked, nudging his hip against the chaise lounge outside the changing rooms.

“It’s okay. I’m not sure.” Emma shrugged.

Liar.

Then she turned back to the mirror and watched her hands sliding down over the floral fabric. She let out a sigh.

Oh fuck, she loves it.

Harper stepped out in a fuchsia-pink off-the-shoulder number that suited her naturally tanned, half-Hawaiian skin. It clung to her curves, to her knee.

“Holy shit. You have to get that, Harp. It’s gorgeous,” Emma cried.

Harper glanced at Logan in the mirror. “Do you think Daniel will like it?”

Logan let out a laugh. “Unless he’s dead, he will love it.”

She did a little skip. “I need shoes. We have to get shoes.”

Emma swallowed and shot him a look, which gave away her true feelings. She quickly glanced away, as if realizing she’d done it.
