“That still doesn’t explain why they abducted you from in front of the gym and dumped your body in front of the clubhouse. It seems like a message.”
“Can’t it be both?” he asked.
I launched out of my chair and stopped him from sitting up. “I wouldn’t do that,” I warned him.
“God damn fucking shit, that fucking hurt.”
“It’s gonna be awhile before you can properly use your abs for anything more than standing.”
“There goes my modelling career,” he huffed.
“With that ugly mug,” Kujo teased from the doorway. The relief of finding our brother awake was clear on his face.
“You’re just jealous of my awesome bod.”
“Now that you’re here, I’m gonna go.”
“Where are your boyfriends?” Kujo asked.
“Boyfriends?” Brandt echoed.
“Don’t wanna talk about it,” I told them both as I exited the room, their laughter following me.
There was no way I was going to sit through an interrogation on my love life, when I didn’t even know what it was. So as soon as I was around the corner by the nurses’ station, I sat in the first chair I could see. Then I took out my phone and texted Dimitri.
Me:
I’m ready.
Dimitri:
On my way!
Me:
I’m in the waiting room.
Then I called Liam.
“Wassup?” he answered.
“Can you check the surveillance at Brandt’s gym?”
“Not even a hello?”
“Like you did for me?”
“Fair enough. What’re you looking for?” he asked.
“Two guys hanging out in the parking lot last week,” I told him. “Probably slinging drugs, but it might not be obvious.”
“Is that all?”
“Yup.”
“How is he?”
“He just woke up, but soon he’s going to be cranky as hell and lapping up all the attention from the nurses.”
